Orange Wire to No Where

I need your help. I have a 07 Diplomat PDQ. Over the last two days I have been attempting to install a US Gear Tow brake. I had a setback or two with the pre-wiring on the coach. The Blue signal wire somehow broke. It took several hours to find that.

Then when all is looking good, it turns out that the Orange wire (part of the Monaco pre-wire job) that goes to the controller inside the coach is not connected to anything.

US Gear has been very helpful. Thankks to them, I know the orange wire is supposed to go the the brake switch. It just terminates inside the Generator compartment.

So, (I know this is asking a lot) I need someone with a 2007 or newer Monaco Diplomat or any other Monaco product that uses the Roadmaster RR8R chassis to take a look for me and see where the wire goes. There are two brake switches on top of the brake unit. Each one has 3 wires. They go to a connector that only uses two of the wires.

The orange wire comes through the fire wall in a harness with a red and a blue wire. They go to the back of the coach.

I have emailed Monaco tech support but fear I won't hear from them anytime soon. So if it is not asking too much, please try to help me out.

Thanks in advance

Don

Don:

I am not near my coach but I had trouble when installing on my 08 Dynasty. US Gear has some really good tech info on their web site with illustrations. Try that. Mine was prewired complete with a connector. Should have been a 5 minute job. But the workers at Monaco sometimes install the male connector and sometimes the female. No consistency. I had to buy the corrrect half from US gear and rewire.

US Gear Tech Support is GREAT!! I called them this morning and "Lee" should get a promotion. He told me exactly where to look and exactly what to look for. All is well now and the system is working great.

Don,

Glad you got the problem resolved. Here is a link to the entire chassis wiring diagram for your coach. You can download it and save it on your computer for future use. It's in pdf format, so you can zoom into sections that you need.

US Gear

Don,
Did you find details for the red wire?? That's the one that connects to the MH chassis battery + pole and keeps the toad battery charged.

Harold:
The Red wire was the only wire that was properly installed by Monaco. As you know from my previous posts, the orange wire wasn't connected to anything and the blue (signal) wire was cut at the rear of the coach. The under the dash connections were all done correctly. I returned from my test dirve yesterday with a huge smile on my face. I am still gled I did a self install, even with the cuts, bruses and frustration. Thanks again for the advice and help. You sent me a private email and I am not sure I replied correctly. Just in case, my email is don.croner@verizon.net
