Original Sony Stereo Replacement

Hello All,

The original sony stereo (CDX-CA700X) in our 2003 Windsor works intermittently, at best.

I have been looking for a another CDX-CA700X on ebay and overstock.com but none are available right now.

Does anyone know if a new sony stereo will fit the original wiring harness and the dash opening?

Thanks,
Irishguy

I believe a new Sony radio will have the same wiring harness.

I had to replace my Sony twice. When I first bought my coach in 2008 the radio would not work but the CD would. At that time I found the same model radio that was installed. After ~3 years the radio failed again but I could not find the same model as it was obsolete. One issue that I had was that I had a control pod in the bedroom for the radio which required a specific wiring connection, which is not available on newer radios. I got on line and search EBAY for Sony radios and looked at the posted pictures to see which models had this connections. Once I found which model I did searches for it and found a NIB radio. Once I got it the swap out was just plug and play.

Yep we have the bedroom control pod as well and very much want to keep it functional. It has the 10 cd exchanger that we also want to keep too. I know cd exchangers are old techno but we still like using them.

I will just keep looking for a unit I can plug and play.

What exactly did you find for a replacement that had the bedroom control pod jack?

I found the CDX-GT740UI was the last version that Sony included the port for the remote pod. Unfortunately it is obsolete, I did a quick search and could not find one anywhere.

If you search for a Sony that has model number lower then 740 you might be able to find one with the remote pod connection.

Here is a model that I "THINK" has the remote pod connector but it doesn't show a picture of the back.

Do some searches and find the same used models and look at the back and compare to what you have.

Yep the 550UI should work. According to pics of the back plate I found online, it all looks the same as the original 700X.

I bought the one in the link you sent and it is on it's way. Thank you for the tip Jim J.
