Just came out of La. and into Tx. on I-10. Noticed the MH was handling a littile funny and pulled over only to find the 2 rear KONI shocks with only 6k miles on them in 2 pieces??? Never seen anything like it, That stretch of road is probably the worst I've been on but both rear shocks??? I did like the ride the KONI's gave but I'm seriously considering the Source REK for the trip home. Well here I sit waiting for new shocks. Gonna be a long day. Thank god for local mobile repair service helping me out...Any suggestions for having the REK installed in CA?

That highway has always been one of the worst, and some of the axle travel on those overland bridges has GOT to be the cause for your premature failure. Still, Thousands of other shocks make it every other day... Could be shock failure alone, but other factors could play in. Are the forward shocks as new? is there no air to the tag axle, allowing it to bounce? Knowing your particular specs would help.

My first thought would be were the shocks to short for your motorhome. I would call Koni and see what they say. When I first got my UFO chassis motorhome, and the front shocks were worthless I could not find the right Koni's to fit, so I called them, and they went out of there way to find the correct ones and locate a set for me. They sell a lot of shocks for motorhomes, and if there is a problem they would want to know.

You didn't raise the coach to high with the levelers causing the rear end to hang on the shocks did you?

Replacement shocks suppose to be here in the next hour. Keeping my fingers crossed. Coach is a 2008 HR Neptune. Put the KONI's on when I had the trailing arms replaced at 4k (No cracks found) The Koni's seemed to have taken care of the pourpoising. Was on the road when the shocks came apart. This is the first serious issue I've had with the coach, just came at a bad time. Will update from the road. Happy Travels All...

I had a set of Beilstens brake apart on my drive axle. Both snapped at the end of the rods. Wierd.
