Over the door awning

I have a 2006 HR diesel and When I got ready to set out I could not get the door awning, which is electric, to come in.
I went through all the manuals that came with the coach and there was only info for pull downs.
I cannot seem to locate anything that relates to an electric type, and I
can't locate the drive motor thinking there would be an over ride like for the patio awning.
I'm stuck for now unless someone has an idea.
I had a mobil tech. but his first comment "Probably would cost at least $300.00 just to look at it". How stupid do they think we are?

Good morning Larry, can you tell us the make/model of the awning? Will help in doing research for you. How are you all? We met about 3 years ago at the gathering at Brazel's (sic). I'm the fool with the Newmar back in the corner with the boxer

I had a similar problem with an auto power Colarado Carefree awning on a 2001 Monaco. It turned out to be a bad connection where the awning power coard plugged into the coach. I removed the cap on the motor assembly - that was on the end of the leading edge of the awning - I mean the part that extends out. There was no power there so I traced it back to the connector. I first checked the fuse and then the power at the switch. I figued I could have manually retracted it by turning the mechanism had I not been able to fix it. If you have the manufacturers model # you might be able to download a manual. Putting the make & model here might help. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Here's a link to previous threads involving different types. Hopefully there's something in there that will help.

If you rule out that it getting power it's probably the motor, just shove it in and zip tie it closed til you get home or were you are going to repair it.

If the awning is not getting power, see if you can locate the feed wires for it in the cabinet above the entry door, you can attach a 12 or 18 volt cordless drill battery to wires. You can run the awning in and out by reversing the wires............Bruce

I'll play Capt Obvious since it's happened to me, actually a few times. Our Girard awnings are 110 volt. So without being plugged in or generator or inverter being on, the awning doesn't work. Maybe not your issue but I thought I would mention it.

How many times have I needed you around when I was/did do something dumb, Captain Obvious?

OP says it's an '06 HR Endeavor, so the awning will be 12vdc. If things get to that point, the motor is in the left-side awning wall-mounted frame (looking from outside). I don't recall the specific part-number, but it will cross-reference to a standard auto window-motor.

Larry: I didn't think you were still around as we haven't heard from you in a while. We traded the '02 DSDP on the '09 Magna just before we found the Cindy has liver cancer. One chemo down and more to come.

Can't help with the awning though as our door awning is the only non electric one we have.

If it is a Girard Awning it needs 120V to operate. Also the ignition key must be off. lastly some models used a wireless remote and the battery might be weak. FYI Some wireless switches were mounted as if hard wired too.

Might be worth a try

I have a 2007 monaco. Same thing happened once yesterday. I shut everything down including heater and water pump. Unhooked power. Then it worked. Hooked up everything again and it has been fine. Just a glitch for mine. Good luck.
