I would like to disconnect the wire at the foot control that turns on the brake light because it also activates my trailer brakes. I will soon fry the trailer brakes if left as is. Will this effect the tranny? Anyone with thoughts on this problem!? thx,,,, '95 Dynasty 300 Cummins, Shut up, hippie!

I think it has to be done through the ecm (electronic control module)
the ecm links the allison transmission and the engine together. You have to go to a dealer with the computer hook up to do this i think.
Cummins dealer?

I had the same problem on my 95 Dynasty. Look in the front run bay below the driver window. One of the relays is for the brake lights from the pacbrake. If you have a wiring diagram for the panel it will list them. Find it and just unplug it.

Thanks,,,, I suspected that it was possible. Will road test and see if tranny responds properly.

I added a diode between pac brake and Service brake so brakes lights works with pac brake but don't active trailer brakes.. ( Input to trailer brake controler ) 99 WIndsor

Rick, Is the "foot control" you reference, the floor mounted PacBrake activate switch (as seen on some older model Monaco's) or the Service Brake pedal?

I have crawled thru the wiring on my 1994 12 valve 230Hp, Dynasty and have found that there are a multiple ways to wire a PacBrake circuit depending on if it was done at the factory or as a add-on later. The same is true for trailer brake controllers.

But according to my 1994 Dynasty wiring diagram, there is an Engine Brake Light Relay that is picked (activated) by +12V coming from the PacBrake switch. There are also Right Rear and Left Rear (tail light) Relays which are activated by the service brake pedal.

Sounds to me like your trailer brake controller could be wired to the wrong brake relay. The Right or Left Rear relays gets their signal from the Service Brakes only.

I do know that Monaco PacBrake wiring got more sophisticated from the mid 90's on, and your Coach wiring may be more sophisticated than mine.

PM me if you want to discuss further.

Larry

Rick:
I just disconnected mine today. It was rely R16 "Exhaust Brake Drive" in the front run bay. Monaco Tech helped me get started and I narrowed it to R16. My wife follwed me and confirmed the brake lights do not come on and as near as I can tell the EB is still kicking in. Have to wait for a longer test drive to confirm.
Good luck.

Mikey,
#16 relay is the "Exhaust Brake Light Driver." I pulled mine a couple of years ago.

PM me with your email and I will send you an Excel spreadsheet listing all the fuses by number, by description, by source and destination, and the relays. It also has the bathroom 12 volt fuse panel listing.
I was fortunate to talk to an EE at Monaco a while back and he sent me the wiring diagrams for the front run bay. With such, I was able to make a complete fuse chart.

Anyone is welcome to it, just PM me. Note: This is for 08 & 09 Camelots and Scepters only.

.02 actually sounds like your 7 pin trailer connector on the rear of the coach is picking up its brake pulse feed incorrectly

brake lights on the coach SHOULD not be a trigger for trailer brake activation, only the stop lamps

the brake pulse feed should be receiving the signal from the controller to apply brakes.

i would recheck your controllers wiring and make sure its not getting the wrong feed from the coach.

older ones used the brake light switch as que to start ramping up power to the brakes, and then relied on the pendulum or electronics to regulate brake power application as needed based on deceleration

as far as pac brake or engine brakes lighting the stop lights its a dot requirement, so the guy behind you knows your slowing down.
your changing the velocity of the coach without using your brakes, so joe driver behind you now knows your slowly down
its not a hippie thing or a any other thing except another level of notifying a person behind you that you are slowing down and maybe prevent them from bonking the rear of your coach
or who knows actually hurting a person or two

The hippie thing is just a silly blip I add and has nothing to do with this forum. I'm not supposed to get into politics here!
