Porch Light Replacement

My porch light keeps burning out and the reason, which I missed before, is that the lens has a small crack which is letting in water.

I suppose now would be a good time to upgrade and go with LED's. The porch light wasn't very bright before so I think LED's would be the right move.

Does anybody have advice/recommendations before I order one? The replacement lens is only $4.00 so I'm hoping upgrading makes sense.

Thanks.

I replaced our porch light lens.

I converted our interior lights to LEDs. I used LED strips for the fluorescent tube replacements.

For more detail, read post #8:
Ceiling lights

I'm planning on using the same LED strip lights on the porch if it ever burns out.

This is a good time to install a LED light strip under the awning and plug it into the porch light plug. The porch light switch will then operate the awning strip light. Hardware stores sell a plastic conduit with a sticky tape side to cover the wires.

I used LEDs for my fluorescents inside and also for my porch light outside ...been working for a couple of years and still works just fine

Happy Trails

Thanks for the replies. I had not considered swapping out the interior ceiling lights with LED's but now it's on my list as well as the porch light.

I got a replacement porch light (LED) from Amazon! I wouldn't put any money into an old fixture like that! JMHO

I replaced my porch light with a dual function porch light. It can be yellow or it can be a bright area light simply by toggling the interior switch to select mode. Cannot remember what site I purchased it on but I am sure you can find it with a Google search

broadrun-

I replaced the porch light bulb with this LED, and it works great:

NAKED BULB NK-1141-450WW LED

I considered replacing the entire fixture with an LED fixture, and concluded it was more work than I needed to fix the problem (dim light). The existing housing is painted to match the coach.

A new lens and the LED listed above and you should be all set.

Thank you for the idea. I already ordered a replacement LED fixture which comes with two lens color options and it was only $8.99. Now I just have to decide if I want to go with the Amber lens or clear/frosted lens.

Thanks to all who responded. It sure is nice when you fix something on these rigs that costs less than $10. Kinda like how one good golf swing per round is enough to make you want to play again
