One of my levelers seems to have overextended and wiped out the internal seals. I was raising the front end last night with the hydraulic jacks running in the manual mode. There was a kind of jump and then I noticed fluid on the ground. In any case close inspection was showing a weld bump exposed that must have been forced past the seals and wiped them out. The jack would not retract and I had to actually raise the rear end jacks to force the front end jack up again and then had to use a long board to raise the front back up. I lost about a quart of fluid and of course the panel lit up like we were at Defcon 5.
What I am looking for is a parts supplier. Power Gear is no Fantastic Vent company that is for sure. Call their number and it is basically 1-800 eat Sh. Call someone that cares in other words.
I suspect rebuilding this one might be foolish and would like to replace it and then take this one apart.
Thanks for any help.
My part numbers are 3510000013 AN 0014379
Touch pad number is 140-1226
Control box is 140-1229

I took a look at one of my rear jacks, as the front one wasn't accessible at the moment. The label shows P/N 501137. Did you get the number of a stamping or the label? Mind you, this is a replacement jack that Monaco shipped to me on my maiden voyage on '07.
I would have to change clothes and raise the coach to see if the two originals have the same label on them.

Here is the instruction manual to service the jack/replace seal. I was able to find my jack listed in the manual. Hopefully you can too.

YCI, you might be a candidate for a surplus jack....from a company like this:

Rebuilding it looks very doable after reading the instructions a couple of times. I tried finding a distributor for parts but have come up empty handed so far. All I have seen is places to make phone calls. I would really like to find an online dealer because the others are just as apt to fail and I would love to have the source of parts.

Have you had a chance to disassemble your current unit....in order to determine why it traveled past the travel-limit-point? There may be some damage here that prohibits re-buildability (to coin a new word).

I had a similar problem with one of my rear jacks about 6 weeks ago. The only way to contact Power Gear is thru E-mail. I priced a replacement jack thru PPL motorhomes (they are the only re-seller in the US) and thru Monaco, Monaco was actually $250 CHEAPER than PPL (about $650) and they had it in stock.

My issue was caused by getting a front-back pre-load on the jack and when the jack tried to retract, it scored the piston. We were able to save the piston by filing off all the damaged area and filling in the gouges with JB Weld. So far the jack has lasted about another 4000 miles and many up down cycles. If you forced the jack back up, you could have very well damaged the seal.

I had time to remove the jack today. The cylinder is severly damaged. I took it to a hydraulic shop today for an estimate to replace it. Then I will need a bottom kit too for about $200. I got a quote of almost $1600 for a new one from a local RV dealer.

I feel the issue was the top part inside that screws on, was unscrewed 1/2 of the way. It was not finger tight at all. I believe this let the jack over extend. The MH only has 11000 miles on it. It totally wiped out the bottom seal kit of course.

If you have the jack removed, you're 50% of the way to replacing it, a new jack from Monaco is about $650, Power gear only sells the seal kits or complete units, no other internal parts.

BTW, yours is damaged WAY more than mine was.

The local RV dealer quoted 1600. I found a brand new one online for 350 and it is an exact replacement. Getting the old jack removed was actually easy. Power Gear will not sell parts to an end user. They don't even answer their phone. It is a recorded message and their "list of dealers" is worthless. The rebuild kit from the local dealer is 160 plus shipping. I have the jack at a hydraulic shop right now to see how much to replace the damaged part. I don't expect it to be worth the money but it is worth the knowledge.
