Power hose reel

I have tried searching and have not come up with the answers I need. I have an 06 HR Scepter with a power hose reel. It has developed a fairly substantial leak. I have had it in to my dealer and was more or less told that it is not repairable. I would like to know the manufacture of this unit, others experience with a similar situation and if any one found that the unit was or was not repairable. I like the idea of the unit but could do without if need be. Is there a newer, better, similar unit? Am I stuck with what I have ? Can a repair be made? Are there others with knowledge, experience, contacts, information, pricing or any related info you would like to share? As usual, thanks for any and all help in regards to this matter.

The #1 place for leaks is the O'Rings. The second is the hose fitting. (Usually plastic) The O'Rings can be replaced and the fitting can be repaired with epoxy or replaced.

Your reel is most likely manufactured by TDI Products. When I tried to go to their website I discovered that the site was in an update mode. I then discovered that they are changing hands:
TDI Products of Atlantic Beach is sold - Jacksonville Business Journal

You could purchase a new one from here:

I repaired my reel by replacing the Orings where the water leaves the reel. The fitting on mine is like a quick connect, I just pushed it in and the whole fitting released. There is a pin and a slot that have to align up so it can be pushed in. I went to the Ace Hardware and found new Orings the same size. Now no leaks at ALL.

Sue hope the new owners are as terrific as the TDI guys. Have had a few problems in the past, and they came thru with FLYING COLORS! Best of luck to 'em.

My old hose finally split and I had a tuff time getting one with the same ID as original. They overnited a new hose! Awesome.

My final answer!

OK, here is where my search led me. The reel on my motorhome is indeed a TDI unit. I called the mfg. and found out that there are no serviceable parts to this unit. This come from TDI Tech Support at 1-800-780-4324. I suggested that some engineer needed to have his job performance questioned. I don't believe that will happen however in that this same unit has been manufactured in the same manner for a number of years. My dilemma-- Approx. $ 300 for a new reel, 2-4 hours to remove/install and after that I have another unit that may leak again in a few years and the cycle will repeat. In addition I have had trouble with the hose jumping the sides of the drum and binding around the spindle, another 1-2 hour fix/repair issue. This has happened at least 2-3 time this season and will not be repeated in the future! I now have the materials to install about a 5' hose into the city/tank fill valve. This short hose will replace the reel. Some adapting from 1/2" pipe to a garden hose fitting is needed to make this work. Get a plug for the short hose when you are not connected to city water so as not to lose your water out of the hose if you forget and have the valve in the wrong position. Once you get the wet bay panel removed it becomes fairly obvious what needs to be done. Technology Research Corp. (old TDI/Shoreline reels) I'm sure will be happy to see my recommendation for their "reel repair". Sell me something that I can't later service and that is the last time you sell me your product. I believe that I have now saved myself about $ 500-700 and some future aggravation. Life is good and also dryer in the wet bay. Some may have a different opinion of the problem but you can't disagree with my experience because it after all has been "MY Experience" !
