Getting ready to install my Sani-Con. The instructions say to use a 20amp dedicated power source. Aside from running a complete new wiring set up to the battery banks, is there an existing source in the wet bay that can be tapped or utilized? I'm not using the heater so I thought that may be an option instead of running complete new wires.

Thanks in advance.

When you say you are not using the heater, I assume you are referring to the Cargo Heater used to keep the wet bay from freezing. Yes, that could be a good source of 12 VDC power for the Sani-Con and you might check to see if your coach was wired for the heating pads that go under the tanks. That is usually an option and may not be installed. If you can locate the plugs that would be another source of 12 VDC. Those plugs will be a bear to get to because they are most likely behind the white panel in the wet bay.

Your coach may be different, but here is the schematic for the heater and pads on our coach:

Thanks nodine, and yes I was referring to heater in the wet bay. I haven't gone anywhere that needs it yet, but your mention of hte heat pads intrigue me. That would be a better option as I know that I do not have that option. (hopefully my Sceptor had an option for the heat pads and prewired). From you wiring diagram, I can see the wet bay heater, but can't make out where the wires are for the pad heater. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you.

The answer is "It depends" On my coach the main 12 volt distribution panel is less than six feet from the "Wet" compartmet. I ran some 10ga wire (i had it on hand) to a pair of Anderson Power Pole connectors (rated 40 amp) hooked the other end to a vacant slot on the fuse panel, dropped a 20 amp in the slot and put a matching pair of asexual Power Poles on the lead to the pump. Work great.

I have a 10GA extension cord for when I have to dump Tank #3 (Rear Gray) as well. it has power poles on both ends.

For those who do not know about anderson power poles, there is no "plug and Socket" the two halves are identical, they are (or can be) polarized however

In some cases you may have a main power line running over the tanks (I DO) in others you can run to either the batteries or to the battery control center.

Your Scepter very probably had a sanicon option, and the wiring may be there.

I installed a sani-con in my 2002 Ambassador in 2005. I had a bay heater and just tapped off that as a source of power. I never travel where I needed the heater, plus I doubted I would use the heater and the sani-con both at the same time. Worked great until I traded up in 2007.

crah......I agree with Mike Canter that your coach should have come with a SaniCon system. It might have been removed. Have you ever requested the Monaco Data sheet from Monaco. Its free and comes with all of the products and their serial numbers that came on your coach. Just email them.

Thanks everyone. I double checked my build sheet and no sani con as option listed. Looks like that option came in the later years for the Scepter. I do notice that it has the power hose real option that I do not have. Not sure what guage wire that is, but doubt it will be enough. Looks like I'll be tapping into the bay heater wires. Reading through everything, looks like I will have to change out the hose that the sanicon came with and install one that does not leak odors. Wasn't ready for that with a new piece of equipment.

I just caught that my coach has an option for the individual heating pads. Mine does not have them, so looks like there should be some wires available to tap into besides the heater. Will have to just look harder.

My 2011 Monaco Cayman has a 120 volt heater for the holding tanks so I ran a pair of 10 gauge wires directly to the house battery bank with an inline 20 amp fuse. Now I have to install the SaniCon system. deSanford

Just set my sanicon to test it. I ended up tying my power to my 12 volt heater. Had a leak immediately from the 3" hose from some small pinholes. I was going to change it out anyways due to all the complaints about the smell permiating from the OEM hose. I also had a leak where the smaller hose friction fits to the end piece. I used it today with a 50 extension hose to try it. Besides the leaks I need to fix, looks like it will work fine. Not sure yet if I'm going to flip the outlet to the backside.

Is the Sani-Con new? If so, you might be able to get a new output hose under warranty. We purchased a new Sani-Con to install and the small output hose that feeds the sewer connection had a small pin hole near the end. We called the company and they sent us a new hose. After receiving the new hose I was able to cut about 18 inches off the bad hose and repair it. I now use it for an extension hose and have needed it a few times.
