Power Steering Noise

When I turn my steering wheel left or right, I hear what sounds like air leaking. The sound is quite noticeable. The sound occurs only when I turn the wheel left or right. When going straight, no sound. The steering is still smooth, no vibrations etc. The noise seems to be coming from the steering column.

Has anyone experienced a noise like this before?

I had a very similar noise in my 2012 Itasca Ellipse( (Freightliner Chassis,Cummins). The noise sounded like hissing on the driver side behind the front tire. It would change tone when the steering wheel was turned . Turned out to be a defective steering pump. Just picked it up today..

You could try changing the hydraulic filters. They might be getting plugged up.
