Power sunscreen FAIL

While driving in fairly dense traffic today, the driver side power sunscreen broke away and dropped across my line of sight! DOH! Fortunately, the wiring held it up on one side and the mount held together on the other. We were able to pull over and remove it from the overhead. Inspection shows a really bogus, light weight plastic mounting tab cracked off. First time I had encountered or read about this. I recommend inspecting your mounts.

MCD had a recall on their shades. Took my MH in and more clips were added. So far it hasn't fallen down. deSanford

I received some good pics from another member showing his solution of beefing up the mounts and re-installing. Gonna be fun trying to hold that puppy in place while finding the screw hole.

How can one determine the mfg? I do not see any markings at all on the shade body. ?

Thanks for the ideas. I can perform a fix to overcome their P**s-poor design now.

I had one break also. I snipped the wires and added insulated male/female ends for later. This allowed me to remove the blind altogether. I bought some 90 degree angle brackets from home depot, added them to the ends using slightly larger screws. I also secured them better with some JB Weld. I then painted them black to match the shade. Reinstalled it using existing holes, plugged the wires in and viola...worked great...another positive is it was much quieter.....Dennis
