Richard,

Can you do the display switching from either location, in AND outside?

That seems best.

Nope, only at the A/B switch depending on where you choose to mount the switch.

You could mount the switch inside but my common sense says that I am outside when hooking or unhooking shore power so that's where I want the switch to be located.

Once GOOD power has been established using the outside display, I switch to the inside display until we are ready to leave.

If not, it can probably be done with a three way switch...
How many wires need to be switched?

It is a 4 wire DATA cable.

Has anyone tried to just hook up the two displays to the same input?
Then both displays are always on.
Otherwise I'm sure it's possible to find two switches that would work like a three way switch does.

I bought the HW50C at www.elecordset.com for $295. Best price I could find. Should install on the output side of the transfer switch if possible in order to protect shore power and generator.

If you can mount it where it is visible in a compartment, the remote is a waste of money. You only need to see what's going on when you don't have power or something occurs. Otherwise, your just watching the same thing over and over, which gets rather boring!

Thanks for the link.

It appears that model number includes the remote display;
is that the one you got?

The price showing there now is $376. Did you get a discount
or did you get a different model?

The $295 was the price shown on their site at the time I bought (November,2012). You might give them a call. I did buy the one with the remote display, but really didn't need it.

My EMS-HW50c has started giving me a P-7 alarm low frequency. It has been doing this for several months now. It would drop power to my MH and then restore power. I just got off the phone with Progressive and they had me give them my software ver. They are sending me out a new board and remote just like that. What a great company they stand by their equipment and genuinely care about us. Thank you Progressive Industries.

On most Monaco's don't they already have a built in EMS system? I plugged in at 50amp outlet the other day and went inside and the factory built in 50 Amp Smart EMS Load Meter showed an error and prevented power from coming into the coach. When I went out and pulled the plug apart I found the ground wire was corroded and not making contact. As soon as I corrected the ground wire everything was fine. So wouldn't a separate EMS be redundant, and/or not work at all?

I don't believe that MOST Monaco's came from the factory with the EMS system you are referring to.

Here's the deal.

Some coaches came with an Intellitec EMS System which is a 120 VAC Load shedding device for situations when a 50 amp shore power is not available and you plug into something lower such as 30 or 20 amp.

Some coaches were fitted with a transfer switch which had an incorporated EMS system built into it which will check whatever source of power you plug into making sure that it is not too low or high in voltage or frequency and that it has a good ground and neutral, etc.

Others like mine that came from the factory with only the Intellitec EMS unit had to be retrofitted with either a TRC or a Progressive Industries EMS unit to monitor the pedestal power.
