Alternators on DP's can be over-taxed (resulting in shorter life) if they are used to recharge house batteries that have been depleted during dry camping. That's why it is recommended to use your generator for the first couple of hours of driving so it can handle that recharging load rather than having the alternator do it. However, the load of a refrigerator while driving is small compared to the alternator's max output and shouldn't be a concern.
