Ladder / solar / jacks.
Duane - I have a "new to me" 99 Executive - 38' - I think a lot of things are very similar. It came with an extra ladder for some reason - it is brand new never installed so if you want it I'll make you a deal on it! In regards to the solar - mine goes to a small control panel on the wall just as you walk into the bedroom. As far as the jack goes - the pump for mine is on the passenger side in the front - you have to open the generator door to see it, it has three control valves on it with manual releases - one for each jack ( one in the front and two in the rear) - if the manual valve is not closed all of the way it will act as you described - are they all doing the same thing or do the rear ones work?
Kurt.

Hi Duane:
I have a similar rig. Had lots of experience fixing things but I think that most are fixed now. Was told that it was maintained very well, but after owning it for a few years, I kind of doubt that. But, we have had so much fun in it and love traveling in it. I'm sure you will too. I can't help you with the leveling system because mine has air bags. But, I would suggest you:
Check all batteries.
Check tires.
Check water system.
Check heating system.
Check A/C system.
Check awnings and slide.
Check plumbing system.
All before your first trip. It will help avoid roadside problems.
It is a sturdy and a well built rig and should bring you lots of enjoyment.
Pat

First thing to do is read all the owner's material that came with the home or should have. What you have is different than a 5th wheel but a lot of what you did on the 5th wheel will carry over to the coach. I was a newbie in March of 2013 and am still learning day by day. Each time you take the unit out do a check list for tires, batteries (water) oil, trans fluid, jacks up, toad attached correctly etc. Might help to make a list and laminate it until you have down pat. If you do that you won't be like the little icon to the left
I figure by the time I am 85-90 I will have a PHD in RV issues but until then I stumble just like you. We are full timers so there is always something to fix or do but that is just like having a house. We really enjoy the lifestyle

Thanks for all the helpful advice.. its only the front leveler acting up so im gonna check the site posted above
Kurt Averill, ill hit you up via PM here but if that doesnt work, just email me at duane 124 at g mail dot com so we can talk about that ladder
another question on the allison 6 speed tranny control.... it has a mode button that has economy next to it.. does the red light mean economy mode is on or off? i have the Allison manual however it doesnt spell out that feature
and yes, i have read manuals till im blind lol
thanks again guys and gals
edit: oh, as a bonus, i figured out the thing has a tracvision L3 dome on it the other day.. on a whim, i hooked up and old direct tv box i had laying around to... darned if the thing locked on before i could get all the stuff powered up....its just funny because when i bought it.. my main focus was on mechanical and structural issues... yay lol

As the owners of the exact same coach (1998 38' Dynasty Duke - no slides) for about a year now, bought from a very questionable character on this site! ;-) - just kidding, it's been a learning experience but a great one.
If there's anything I can take pictures of or help out with let me know. I've not done much from a mechanical perspective as the coach was well taken care of but I've tinkered a lot with the electrical/electronics. Installed a Winegard Trav'ler which was a piece of cake and well worth the money if you are going to use the coach and like to watch TV.

to add: at some point if/when all the stuff like power train, frame, mechanicals etc check out, THEN im gonna piddle with the fun stuff and thats when im gonna be asking people to share how they are set up.... i mean storage areas, add ons like power ,water etc on retractable reels
a LOT of RVers say you need to set it up for you.....However, im the kind that is very open to what other people have already figured out space wise etc lol
