I have a 36ft 2005 Monaco with a 8.1L gas engine with dual exhaust. I want to pull a 2007 Ford Edge with auto trans. How well will it pull it and will I have enough power to pull it.

Thank You

I have a Southwind 37c With a 8.1 chev, I pull a Jeep Liberty which weights about 4000 lbs. Have never hit a hill I could not pull under 45 mph. With a gasser you got to learn to slow down and smell the roses.

Dan.....That 8.1 is a killer motor. You shouldn't have any issues. Your mpg will suffer. I saw another camper pulling a Ford Flex last week. Apparently there are a bunch of Ford models that now can be towed in neutral.

I pull a 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee with my 8.1 motor. No power issues. Pulling grades you will hear your fan clutch engage a little more often, but not bad. As stated, you will lose about 1 mpg towing.

Thanks guys for the info. That makes me fell a lot better knowing that you do not have to have a pusher to pull your car.

Thanks again

I have a Ford Triton V-10 in my Damon. I'm in Jersey and I've pulled my VW Jetta on a tow dolly as far as Key West. You don't need a Diesel to tow.

Well, I do not know if the Ford Edge is one of the "Towable 4-down" cars or not (Go to Remco Towing for instrucitons on how to tow it)

But if you are asking if the motor home can pull it (Assuming it can be towed 4-down) yes.

The limit on most Gassers for towing is about 5,000 if you use a stright hitch, if you use a drop hitch watch the ends of teh cross bar the receiver is welded on for signs of failure and if it shows signs of cracking along the welds or bends.. Get ye to a weld shop.

I would not try to tow a car on a dolly or trailer with a Gasser.

Why not? It's the only way that I tow. Never had a problem.
