Question for Detroit 60 owners

The owners manual for the Detroit Series 60 recommends a valve adjustment somewhere around 100,000 miles. Has anyone here who has one of these engines ever had the valve adjustment done? If you did, what was the cost and how long did the job take? It looks to me that getting to the valves in my coach will be a tough job.

I have close to 130,000 miles on my Series 60. It is the best running engine I've had in a coach. (Have had a CAT and Cummins in the past, but like the Detroit better.) Anyhow, I am debating whether to have the valve adjustment done or not, and would appreciate any comments other Detroit owners might have.

Depends on specific shop hourly rates.
We have Mack trucks with 60s
We never got one out of the shop for the 100,000. Me service for less than $1,000.

Call your Local service center and get a price from the people that are willing to do this for you.
Otherwise you will hear 50 different experiences from across the country on a public forum .

Super rep, I have this video but can't figure out how to get it to here. Do a search on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/) for the video:

Chattahoochee Tech Diesel, Injector Height, Detroit Series 60

It shows in detail how it is done. There will be a bunch of videos about the Detroit 60...

I have not had my overhead run on my Detroit 60 yet as I only have 65,000 miles on mine. Make sure you go to a certified Detroit shop for this repair....

Safe travels
Dave

We had ours done at about 100,000 miles at Detroit in Ocala for around $650. But we did all we could to make it as accessible as possible, removed panels, emptied the rear closet, and buttoned things back up ourselves.
