MM,

My DW and I are planning on vacationing in your neck of the woods (Eugene, OR) at Armitage Park sometime in October this year.

While we are there, I would like to have my Marquee Door Awning fixed properly this time (darned thing won't work and will not even go out..checked the obvious things like fuses, etc...). I took our rig to a local "authorized Carefree Awning shop...Fraserway RV", and it was worse, not better when I took it out of their shop!

So, with your depth and breadth of knowledge, could you point me in the direction of someone in this area who you know for sure can fix this awning once and for all! There may be a "homecooked" meal in it for you, as we will be in the park for 2 weeks! btw, we have 2 Belgian Shepherd Tervurens: one is 7 months and the other is 8 1/2 years old: perhaps they could make friends with your minipins?

Thanks as usual for all of your help

Not MM but my over the door awing stopped working a while back. Had the motor replaced by Carefree (bad design in original) still would not work when installed on coach (worked fine on bench). Turns out there is a lug on the new motor that would short to ground when the motor was under torque. A Tech at the old Wildwood in FL cut off the lug and everything worked fine after that. I don't think many shops know about the problem but the best bet will be a shop that employs the old Monaco techs. I think MM know which shops in the Eugene area have these techs.

Not MM either -- She lives in Sacramento, not Eugene, but does know the area well -- I was at the rally in Eugene, & an ex, Monaco tech was one of the experts at the Q&A session -- He has a business in the Eugene area -- His name is Jeff Butler -- Phone # 541-912-8580 -- We were at Armitage Park for a week, & sure enjoyed it -- Bill Willard

I should have said MM is in Sacramento at this time, not lives in Sac -- She`ll probably be back in OR later this year -- Bill Willard

Dave and William,

Thanks for the input, guys. I called Jeff at Cascade Conversion and he told me to give him a call when we get down there and he'll fix me up!

Hopefully, it will not be a motor replacement, as I hear those things cost around $400.00 + almost as much to install them!

Oh well, what's the saying? "I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...wait a minute, I just retired in June!" I think I better change that rhyme.

"I owe, I owe, it's return to work I go!"

Hey Chef Guy...I am a bit upset that I will miss a home cooked meal by you - I am not in the Eugene area anymore. (Are you coming to Northern CA ? )
Many of the RV businesses I knew about in that area closed their doors after the RV manufacturers in the region shut down.
I have heard some good stuff about Jeff (the one that William Willard mentioned) plus there is one other that I am trying to find the name and phone number for.
I will also put an email to a few other contacts that I have to see if they can tell me who is still in the RV repair business in that area.
I do know that a couple of the folks I have met from the forum here and have remained friends have used and back the Guaranty RV group - but I have had no first hand experience with them.

I will post again in a week with results from my emails and phone calls...

Guaranty does indeed have some good techs. If your awning is not moving. No sounds at all there is a possibility that the fuse is shot. On our Dynasty it is behind the TV!!!!
