I've been using my VMSpc for several months now, or actually 3 different trips. I am pleased with how it works and like getting live and I guess fairly accurate information.
My question concerns the diagnostics feature. On my last trip I had 4 issues show up but felt, saw or heard nothing. No check engine light came and the trip was uneventful. Not sure what they mean as they do not line up with a list of Cummins trouble codes I found online. Maybe someone can give me a clue. I condensed it down some since they all came from the engine SID and occured at the very same time: 9:08, 8-9-10.
ID MD Component Mode
69 5 After Cooler Coolant Temp Low Current
52 1 Auxillary Output Dev Driver #4 Low Reading
50 0 Injector Cylinder #20 High Reading
67 0 Injector Control Timing Signal High Reading
Do any of you VMSpc experts have any ideas what this is about?
I tried editing this several times but can't get the columns to line up. The mode is the low current, etc.

Jim here is a past from another forum on a explanation of the codes. I wouls also susgest that you post your question on the VMSpc forum and Martin or one of the tec's will give you what they mean.
SilverLeaf uses SAE codes on their readout not
the Cummins codes. You can call SilverLeaf and they will decifer it
to a Cummins code. SAE codes are universal. (CAT, Cummins, etc)
engine company codes are engine specific)
YOU can access the Cummins trouble codes by using your diagnostic
switch (if your coach has one) the engine lights will blink out the
codes But it's a complicated procedure (see your Cummins Manual) if
you donot have a diagnostic switch then:
key- ON, Throttle to floor 3 times within 5 seconds, and release. IF
there are codes in the memory or currently active the WARN & Engine
STOP lights will flash. Count the flashes!!! USE the Manual!!!
Like I said it's complicated without the manual. Suggest call
Silverleaf first or Go to Cummins. Most codes will self clear after
a spicific number of Key Cycles without an occurance. otherwise you
will need cummins equipment to cancel the codes.

Walt,
Is there somewhere on the internet where we can get the SAE codes?
Tom

I have used a Silver VMSpc ten years on two motorhomes. My 2000 Dutch Star with a Cummins ISC would spit out weird codes about every third trip and it did that for 66,000 miles and the engine never had a problem. Some times it would spit out error codes when I shut off the engine and they were usually something with the fuel pressure or injectors. I just ignored them.
I now have the VMSpc on a 2005 Cummins ISL and in 41,000 miles it has never given an error code.

It does put out a lot of codes on me too but they all clear and the engine still runs great.
I would just like to know more about them

Tom like I posted I would try the VMSpc forum and ask Martin (he is the owner of Silverleaf) he does monitor the forum and I feel sure he will give you a answer.
