Hi everyone...we have a question.
We have a 2002 Monaco Diplomat without the owner's manual. We have two switches on the dash and we need to know what they mean:
1) INC/DEC

2) ENG/DIAG

Thanks for your continued help!

One switch is to increase/decrease engine idle speed and the other is the Check Engine Diagnostic switch.

Here is how the diagnostic switch works:

Hold the switch in the diagnostic position then turn the ignition switch to ON. If no code has been recorded then the Warning and Stop Engine lamps will stay on.

If there is an active code then the Warning lamp will flash.

After a couple of seconds the Stop Engine lamp will flash the code. The code which may be two digits will keep repeating.

If there is more than one code, then each code will repeat twice before going to the next one. You can move back and forth through the list by pressing the Idle Speed switch either - or +.

Now, turn the ignition switch to run - DON"T START - and press the engine diagnostic switch and hold it. Now the CHECK ENG and STOP ENG lights will flash the error code and you can determine what the code is from the table.

ISL & ISC Codes List- Cummins ECM

Example the amber CHECK ENG light will flash once the red STOP ENG light will flash out the error code. For error code 123, the CHECK ENG light will flash once, followed by the STOP ENG light flashing as follows -- FLASH pause FLASH FLASH pause FLASH FLASH FLASH -- then the CHECK ENG light will flash once and the cycle will repeat.

If you have more than one error code press the IDLE INCREASE switch to
go to the next error code. ALL Inactive codes will not display. If you any inactive codes, you will need the INSITE computer to reset them All inactive codes will only show a solidly lit CHECK ENG and STOP ENG light.

Rex,
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We really appreciate your help. Do you have any idea where we could get an owner's manual to our 2002 Monaco Diplomat. We got all the other information, but we are missing this vital part....
Again,
Thanks for you help,
John & Jan

John, then can be ordered from Monaco. That is the only place to get one unless you find an owner with one that you can copy. Coping may be a bit difficult as there are lots of pages.

Rex, thank you for code list link. Knew what switches on 2000 Discovery 38' were for but haven't got code list yet. Maybe that's good because not many problems.
Thanks again.

Guys you need to know your engine fuel system to determine which set of codes to use. The fuel systems are CAPS or HPCR Fuel System.

If you have a CAPS fuel system (ISC & ISL before 2003) then use these codes:

ISC & ISL Fault Codes List- Cummins ECM

But if you have the HPCR system (ISC & ISL after 2003) then use:

ISL & ISC Codes List- Cummins ECM

Enjoy

I have a 2000 Monaco Diplomat. I have pushed the inc/dec button while at idle with parking brake on and in neutral, and get no change in idle speed. Am I doing something wrong? I have read the manual and can’t find a mention of this switch at all.
Thanks,

On my 2000 Diplomat 40 PBD the switch will increase the idle speed a little bit with each push of the switch. You have to keep "clicking" it to get the increase.

Thanks mahon1993,
I have been out of town for a couple of days. When I get a chance I will try it again. I only clicked it a couple of times and that was probably up and down. If it changed the idle speed it must have been too small for me to notice.

Mahon1993, you are absolutely correct. It did take a lot of clicks, but the idle will move up and down.
Thanks again
