Rain water inside when slide extended

Today we put the slide out on our2005 Executive. While slide was being extended with got small amount of rain water on floor near frig and behind driver's seat. Is this just to be expected or do we have a problem?

thanks,
Cathy

A little more information would help. Was it raining at the time or had it rained recently?

Yes, send more info and we might be able to help you. Both our coaches are the same.

So sorry! Yes it had rained. There was no rain water in MH with slides in. Noticed small amount on floor after slide was put out. Also noted no water inside with slides out while actively raining.

Do you have slide toppers?

Sounds like it came in WHILE the slide was going out...

That is the most vulnerable time... it seals well when it's all the way in or out, otherwise it has some openings...

one thing to do is tilt the rv front to back to allow the water to run off the back of the slide, then pull the slide in... (once level again !)

That is exactly right John. The amount was trivial. But since we are newbies to all of this, we wanted to make sure this does not mean there is an unknown problem which needs to be repaired.
Thank you!

I always tweak my levelers to raise the front a little so any water will run off. Sort of the same thing as raising the front end of an awning so rain water won't pool.

It sounds like the water may have come off each end of the side, front and the rear. The next time you have the slide in and it rains hard, get a flashlight and check the top of the slide BEFORE you put it out. It can pool up on the top of the slide and then push out the ends when you put the slide out. I had a problem with mine, it took a few trials and errors to get it fixed, long story, hope I'm wrong. I would throw a towel on top of the slide at each end and check it almost daily for water. That worked till I got it fixed.

One additional possibility is your slide toppers may not be keeping rain out. One of our topper's stitching failed recently and pulled away from the motor home allowing rain water to pool on topper and dumping water on the slide top when retracting slide. It was not visible from the ground.

Thanks for great replies. MH at repair shop now for a laundry list of issues. We bought it used and "everything works". NOT! Will inspect slide toppers when we get it back. thanks again. Sure we will have lots of other questions as we get to know our MH.

Good luck--still learning and it will be six years this December--you have lots more 'frills' than our Cayman. I must set wood boards underneath driver's side front and rear to tilt rear slide so rain will not leak inside on the bedroom carpet. Used to set the jacks down, but a freak storm allowed enough water lying on ground before it could sink in to get lightning to damage the (metal) jacks and some other items. We have no building or cement pad for our coach, sits on grass in our backyard. Always something, but we must love it?

Check rubber seals to make sure they are not trapped pointing in. Especially the seal around the slide on the top (under the topper).
Treat rubber seals with slide seal conditioner.
Treat toppers with tent waterproofer if they are canvas material.
