Rear Camera

Hi Gang,

Getting close now. Going fulltime as soon as the house sells. Hot market, so it shouldn't be too long.

Recently my rear camera has decided not to stay on while the coach is in reverse. It switches to one of the side cameras, and I have to stop and manually switch the camera back to rear camera.

Anyone seen this issue before?

Do you have the Aladdin system?

Aladdin gets signal that transmission is in reverse and that keeps camera view from switching.

Do your backup lights come on? I don't know if the Aladdin uses the transmission backup switch or gets a signal from somewhere else - but if backup switch not working (no backup lights or beeper coming on) that may be the source of the problem.

Also says in manual that Hazard Flashers will prevent camera view from switching. Try that. If camera stays on rear view then that would confirm your not getting a signal that transmission is in reverse.

Thanks. I'll check that out as soon as the DW gets home. I have lots of little things that fail intermittently. But, work most of the time.

The backup camera worked fine this morning when I went to dump the tanks. Of course... :-)

When I read your post - I was thinking that the rear camera is working it just doesn't stay locked onto the rear view.

Is that your problem, or does rear camera picture go blank?

In my coach the camera view will automatically switch from left side to rear to right side, and back again. Unless I put transmission in reverse (then it stays locked to rear view) or unless I manually lock to the rear view using the Aladdin joystick.

My voyager did that and after replacing the cable that connects to the back of the camera it still continued to do the switching to another view.

The only resolution was to replace the expensive Monitor. It was one of the items my extended warranty actually covered.
