How the heck do you get a swivel recliner (FlexSteel?) with a shortest dimension of 27" through a doorway with a maximum width of 25"?

I disassembled the replacement recliner (Layzboy) and it was an easy fit since the back comes off. I am beginning to think they built the coach around this danged recliner!

I had to remove the round base on mine. I also put in a Lazyboy just like the one in my stick house.

Take the round base off like hardy said. Then turn it on it's side, lift it so the back is towards the windshield, stick top of the back through the door, and as you exit the coach turn it to the right. It takes two to do this. Recently brought two in doing it this way.

I was hoping for some "orienting" advise. I have a good mental picture from Gordon's explanation. Of course, at my age, the picture is in black&white, but I can manage. Gonna LOVE the LaZeeBoy for sure.

I don't have the nerve to tackle a reflooring like that yet Downsizer, but the bamboo flooring really is beautiful.

You guys are GOOD! I didn't have a helper, so I removed the map-pocket handle and the door stop (top) to get a bit more width to work with. Came out with very little drama. Put it on Craigslist and sold it for $50 in a couple of hours!

Put in a two seat recliner in place of the fold down couch, much more comfortable. The unit was humungously heavy, becuase of all the metal, but we managed it by putting it into full recline before trying to fit it through the door - made it much narrower. And yes, it is definitely worth the effort!

I had to take the screen door off, stretched the chair out and got some strong help. The lazyboy is a much better chair. You will enjoy it.

I discussed the sofa removal with my boss but she says to leave her couch alone! I suspect she has reservations relative to my "carpenturial" skills for flooring replacement/repair.

When I got the old recliner to the doorway and started the rotation-to-remove, it fell off the top step and lodged. Thought for awhile I was going to have to use the sawzall but some wiggling and gravity brought the mass through the opening. Fortunately, the extra half inch or so I gained by opening the door back all the way provided the relief required.
