Refrigerator quit when hosed down

I just had my coach washed in a campground and I saw one of the workers direct the spray from a pressure washer into the outside access panel for the fridge. Couldn't stop him in time. I immediately got a fault code. It is LI OP which according to the book it means high temp limit switch open. It has been 24 hrs of hoping that it will dry out but no luck. Is this he kind of thing that will eventually recover on it's own or is something seriously wrong?

If the red light is illuminated on the little black recall box , you may need to go to an authorized Norcold repair facility to get it replaced. There have been threads here with that same issue from washing the coach. Sorry you couldn't catch them in time. Hopefully others will learn from this.
There is a rest procedure that has been used to some success. That's us to wave a magnet over the control board outside in the back of the unit.

Good luck.

Cliff

That recall box controls the 12 volts to the frige. If the led is on then the box is tripped. Easy fix. The box has a blue and red wire. The green is ground and the black goes to the stack.
If you unplug the red wire which comes from the coach on the box. And plug the red wire where the blue wire connects to the frige board, after taking off the blue wire. You just put your frige back to original. See if that works. If it does you can ask for a replacement black box from Norcold
Happy New Year

EXACT same thing happened to mine. Went to Blue Beacon, guys sprayed the MH down, fridge quit, li Op fault, red light on.

Fridge wouldn't run on LP or A/C. I read numerous threads on numerous forums about Norcold fridges with this issue. I downloaded the service manual too. The service manual lists several possible causes. One being an out of level condition. I leveled the coach but that did not resolve the issue. Eventually I came across a post (on this very site) that explained how to reset the black box. I reset the box, the light went out and the unit has been running flawlessly for over a week now.

Here's what I did. Turn the fridge on. Go outside. Take the access panel off. Place a strong magnet over the red light on the black box. Listen for a "click" and for the red light to go out. Fridge should fire up and work fine.

Some say this is unsafe. All I know is there is nothing wrong with my fridge and it works.

If you try this let us know if it works for you too.

Went through a truck wash seven years ago and the same thing happened. Mine started working again the next day on it's own.

I never went to another truck wash place ever after that and never use a pressure washer on my coach.

Here is how to fix your problem (assuming that you have the recall-box fitted): http://www.irv2.com/forums/f54/dread...ox-141111.html

Refrigerator quit when hosed down

Thanks for any help. I immediately suspected the recall box since I remember it was there to protect against high temp--just what the code indicated. But--the red LED is not on. I took the box out and removed the cover and let it sit in the sunlight for an hour. I'm sure it is dry. No LED and still no operation. ?????

Another clue. I just checked the power to the control board. 12 volts going in but zero out to the recall box. There is a warning on the control box cover that says don't remove it! Don't know what's in there and I don't want to ruin any more components but.....?

Hi

The recall box receives 12 volts from the motorhome which is the red wire. If that wire does not have 12 volts then it won't run.
Next check the voltage on the blue wire. That should be 12 volts. It get the 12 volts from the recall box. If no 12 volts there then the box is not working. If the red wire has 12 volts. You can disconnect it from the recall box and put it where the blue wire on the circuit board is connected. That's how it originally was wired. I'm positive on the wiring. All the recall box does is shut off the 12 volts to the refrig if the stack gets too hot. That's all. At least you can get the refrig tested and running. Let me know how that works out.
Rick.

I have always kept a decorative magnet stuck by the door of all my motorhomes for use testing the electric outside door step in case it won't go in/out when it should but now I'll have another use for it.
Wonder just how much labor charges have been saved by the expert advice we get here on the Forum?

Probably about the same amount as is wasted by trying to fix things before getting the expert advice.

Refigerator quit when hosed down

First--Thanks for all of the feedback. A lot! I found an auto parts store open on New Years and bought one of those telescoping, magnetic, picker-upper gadgets. Powerful little devil. It did the magic reset! Didn't believe it until I saw it. This is the depth of knowledge this site contains. You can bet that if I took the coach to a shop for repair (and he knew the trick) it still would have cost plenty. To paraphrase a credit card commercial, "iRV2, don't travel without it!"

I use Blue Beacon truck washes quite regularly. I've never had a problem with the fridge up to now but...... I wonder if it would be feasible to buy a replacement cover and tape over the openings. This cover could be temporarily installed (fridge turned off of course) before going in to the truck wash.
