The water filter is hard to access and doesn't seem real secure. I'm used to having a portable water filter and am considering removing it. Anyone done this? How hard is it to work within that small opening? Did you remove an outside panel to get to it? Thanks for any help!

I moved mint to the water panel bay and mounted it on the panel where I can get to it. I just filter all the water coming into the coach, even to fill the fresh water tank, much easier.

We replaced the filter with a larger version and moved the vacuum to the location where our filter was, behind the hot water tank. Now we access the vacuum bag through the small door that was previously use for the filter access.

We did ours almost exactly like Drifter except we install the regulator at the hose bib to protect the hose from high pressure.

How did you access the filter to remove it and install the vacuum? Did you remove the H/W heater outside panel or what? Good idea-Thanks!

The filter can be removed through the little door and just use the winter bypass tube to complete the water flow circuit. Then to install the vacuum you have to pull out the hot water tank about 7" without disconnecting the lines. Also open the door next to the hot water heater to the left, there most likely will not be a latch handle but door is most likely hinged and held in place with some screws. There should be enough vacuum hose to relocate. I bought a pan sweep and extra fittings at: Central Vacuum Systems | Central Vacuum Accessories | Commercial Vacuums and More

Just curious..Is this water filter your talking about a HR feature or does it relate to a monaco knight also?

My built-in vacumn is under my bed and i do have a little door to get to the water heater bypass valve..We had to pull out the w/h to change out the "cheap" plastic check valve with brass .I don't recall seeing a filter?

thanks Tom

Tom, When I explained how I moved the Filter and Vacuum to Wannabe I thought that he having a 08 PDQ model, that his couch may be the same as ours. I sorry that I didn't explain that up front. The difference between Monaco and HR are basically only trim otherwise there are the same. Your DFT model most likely have these items in a different places, the process is the same. Again I'm sorry that I didn't mention the models before and if I can help in any way please ask.

Drifter,
Do you have the water hose reel in the upper left corner of your water compartment? I can't tell from the pic, but it seems that you are using a separate hose for your water supply. Do you have a check valve for the hose that connects to your black tank flush inlet? You have a well thought out hookup setup-wish Monaco had given as much thought to the placement of the water filter.

Wanabe, No we do not have the water reel, but yes the check valve was added and is a must. The picture was taken before somebody noticed I had forgotten the check valve so it was added.

I had a 2003 Imperial and the water filters were located in a compartment off the back storage compartment and was easy to locate along with all of the water routing cut offs.

We traded about a month ago for a 2011 HR Endeavor 43PKQ. It had a water filter wrench in the main storage compartment, so there must be a water filter or filters somewhere, which is verified in the owner manual. But the location is vague and mentions three or more possibilities where it may be. I have looked in, on, under, around, and in every compartment, and I can not locate the water filter.

Does anyone have an idea where the water filter might be located? It is not in the water service bay, propane bay, in the water heater service compartment, either storage bay, or under the sink. Where ever Monaco put the filter, they hid it extremely well. It may be near the water tank, but I don't have visual or physical access to the water tank either.

Mine is located on the passenger side behind the back main bay wall. Access is through a small opening that has a swivel cover. Yours may have a similar placement. You might want to post in a new thread as this one's a little old. Good luck!
