Remote propane fill hose

Hello, this am we got up early to head over to our local propane supplier and get our tank filled The guy starts filling our tank then stops after filling the tank with about 8.8 gals saying we have a leak in our hose.

The hose that goes from the fill port to the tank.

I called Monaco and they want $306 for the hose plus shipping. I about fell out of my chair. Monaco has no info on the hose other than it's 4 ft long. Nothing on fitting sizes ect. (sigh)

I have two questions,
1) can I remove that hose without all the propane coming out?

2) any idea where to get one of these hoses?

Is it a special hose or what would be the specs for this hose.

Thanks for your help!

Richard

P.S. It is for a 2001 HR Scepter

Richard, can you take a couple of pix of the hose you are speaking of? I'm no LP expert, but I've never seen a remote FILL hose on a coach. All the fill ports I've ever seen are welded directly to the LP tank. That does not mean it does not exist, but it would seem from a safety standpoint that there would have to be a shutoff valve mounted directly to the tank, even if there is a "fill hose". That would enable you to shut off the LP tank and remove the hose.

I'd be looking for a local propane fitter/installer to provide a replacement rather than pay double and triple markup for something that is not particularly special. If you have a propane supplier that supplies tanks for domestic supply, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Remote fill hoses are standard in cars overseas running on LPG.

Fleetwood Discovery also used the remote fill hose. You might check with them. They may be cheaper. Yes the tank has a one way valve. The hose can be removed without losing all the gas.

My 2001 Diplomat has a remote fill hose that broke, had one made at a Hardware supply place in Lake Havasu AZ think it was $40.00 Check around you'll find a place to make one. On mine I shut the gas off manually and took the hose in with me , I believe there is a one way valve going into the tank. Your tank would be empty if it didn't. good Luck

Hello, here is a couple of pictures. I have been calling all the propane suppliers locally and none are even close to me. I guess I will try to remove the hose and take it to one of the suppliers I called. If you click on the image it puts it in the right view.

Seems to me Monaco or who ever used the wrong hose to make up the hose assembly. I believe propane hose is wire reinforced RUBBER covered hose. It will have a marking along the hose that says PROPANE on it. 4ft of the proper should cost about 3.00 a ft.
