Remove tile and carpet and replace with new flooring?

Who has done it?
Issues? Solutions?

I heard if you remove the carpet and tile and replace it with it with one flooring the tile area will require a new sheet of plywood to make up the difference in thicknesses of the old flooring.

How do you handle the old material under the slide rollers? Trimming out stairwell?

Would love to see some pics

Jeff

Jeff,

We did this in our '03 Signature in the summer of '10. We had, as I suspect you have, carpet in front, porcelain tile in the galley and bath and carpet in the bedroom. We had all the old flooring removed from the firewall to the bedroom closet. In our case the carpet and tile were attached to the same subfloor. We had a Luxury Vinyl Tile (Mannington Adure) installed throughout. After living with our new floor for going on 2 years, we remain extremely happy with our choice of flooring and also the installers. We are full timers, have 2 little dogs and use it hard. It still looks like the day they installed it.

We went to Elkhart, IN, and had Master Tech RV do the work for us. We did some other remodeling at the same time and can recommend Master Tech with no reservations. If you are interested call Jack Harris at (866) 895-4556.
