The black trim around the top of the entrance stairwell in our 2006 Endeavor was developed quite a "crunch" with sand getting between it and the tile flooring. It seems to be glued down, but I am afraid to just try pulling it up as it already has several small splits in the long direction.

Anyone have any experience removing theirs? I'm afraid if I don't do something soon the wife is going to take an ax to it and chop it out as she is bound and determined to get that sand and grit out from under it to stop the entry crunch.

Bob,

I would try to use a heat gun to soften the glue, it might work.

Please, don't use your DW hair dryer

On our 07 Camelot, the trim had small staples holding it in place -- They are covered by the carpet -- Bill Willard

I pulled mine up when I replaced the flooring and went to a flooring shop and got some new stuff and re did all the stairs as well. It is not expensive and I jus used contact cement to re install it. Worked great and looks great.

I haven't removed mine but had to glue it back down. I had splits in mine also and became a "trip" hazard.

On my "06 Dip, I replaced the carpet in the stairwell with laminate. The black trim is screwed into the walls of the stairwell. The screws aren't accessible until you remove the carpet from them. The carpet in my coach was stapled with 1/8" staples.

You can go to a real carpet retail store and ask for a rubber stair nose trim. This will take the place of the plastic trim that is on your coach. You can use contact cement or gorilla glue to keep it in place.
