Repair Warranty

As a U.S. Visitor I need some local advice.
I had a radiator repair done by a truck workshop in L.A.
It was a radiator out , strip, refit too and bottom tank and replace. $3600
So after 1days driving I notice coolant leaking from the radiator frame. (Only leaks when engine off and cooling- just like before the repair)
What are my rights as to warranty.
The truck repairer was a Ford dealer but I assume they are all independent - so any warranty work would have to be done there - bummer since I was finishing in Dallas.
I've written to them Friday am past but no reply.
I'm getting a report from a shop in Coburg Tuesday which I will send to them. Will I need a lawyer? Do I have rights under the law?

No lawyer needed. In California, you can file suit in Small Claims Court for losses up to around $7,000.

However before you file any type of suit you have to give the facility a chance to correct the work they did.

The facility may in fact have something like a 30 day warranty on their repairs, but the kicker is you have to bring the coach back to them.

You can try calling the owner of the facility and ask him if he will authorize some other facility to diagnose and repair the problem, but he is really under no legal obligation to do so.

Although it won't help at all with paying for your repairs you can post your side of the situation at the following site, and let the facility owner know you're going to do it: RV Service Reviews

If the OP is out of California, going back to the shop in L.A. would be impractical. As an alternative, notify the shop of the problem (send him photos, too) and tell him that you will have his work re-done locally and give him the shop's information so they can consult with each other. They can come to an agreed price to repair and, hopefully, reimburse you the costs.

If that doesn't work, then Small Claims is the last resort. You may even be able to file in your home state (check the rules).

If the repair was done by a Ford dealer then any Ford dealer should honor the warranty. It won't pay another non Ford dealer for the repair. Call them ASAP.

I've got an air leak I can't fix and s service due.
I'm getting that done Tuesday and a report in the radiator if they can see a leak - maybe just a clamp, but if not hopefully some pressure on the repairer.
I'll ring them Tuesday and tell them where I'm at.
Thanks for the advice.

Story so far.
All repairs and service completed by Pacific Power in Coburg Oregon
Thanks Dave Hinds for the recommendation - they were exceptional
Report on radiator is tank failure -again
Carmenita Ford have stated they will warranty it.
So now booked into Horizon Ford Truck centre next Monday.
I've still got my fingers crossed that I won't be out of pocket except for a few motel bills.
Went to Monaco in Coburg for some parts whilst in Coburg. They were very helpful - from what as said I think the front counter were all from the old Monaco business - at least they still have a job and seem to really care about the product.

Update
So I arrived at Horizon Ford to discover my booking was really a mirage and that you really don't get in the queue till you arrive ?
Having said that the service guy found Power Torque - a heavy truck specialist that could start on the coach straight away.
So off I tootled to find them.
I was very impressed with their competent staff. I chatted to the Diesel Fitter that was going to do the job and left the coach happily with them.
The stream of coolant running away from the coach had increased as if to say "fix me soon, I'm warning you"
So off to sea (pun intended) the orcas today then Campbell River and the Bears for the rest of the week.

Radiators out and in the way to repair or replace.
Power Torque rand to let me know the transmission hoses were very brittle and some contamination in hydraulic fluid (runs fan)
Replacing all transmission cooler hoses, flush and replace hydraulic fluid.
So a timely warning to others that at 10 yrs it's time to check hoses etc - time life expired.

Steve:
There is a co called Northwest RV Supply in Eugene that bought most of the Monaco inventory from the bankruptcy. I have been there and they have lots of goodies. They are just south of Eugene right on the east side of hwy 5.

Thanks Stretch
I'll give them a call for Monaco related stuff
My hydraulic pump for the slides just inbound from step is leaking
I asked the guys at Carmenita to have a look at it the degreased it completely and found no leak - I thought that was funny.
So of course it still leaks
Current stuff is generic other than the radiator if it's fatal.
I should check where to get a new one from
Maybe Pacific Power in Eugene??
The service guy there spent his previous life around the corner at Monaco - how handy is that??

I have an extra pump (from when mine went bad) that I need to see about having rebuilt. They are horribly expensive; assuming it is the Lippert pump.

I replaced our lousy one piece aluminium radiator with a strong 3 piece radiator manufactured by Radiator Supply in Sweet Home Oregon. Great price great product.
