I am considering replacing the Dometic NDA 1402 reefer in my 07' Dip SKQ with a Samsung RF 197 residential reefer. Has anyone out there with a SKQ model (forward kitchen) done such a swap? If so, did you encounter any problems or have any suggestions for me and would you recomend it? I would appreciate any recomendations you could send my way. Thanks
Dan

I am considering the same mod. I also have a SKQ and I am concerned about the additional weight on the slideout. I believe it will fit by building a sub floor over the slide roller and reposition the smoke detector. I was at the factory when they replaced our fridge (1402). They removed it by removing the drivers seat, (4 bolts) and then removing the driver side window. It will not go through the door. Keep us up to date on how it goes.

I believe the Residential fridge would be lighter than the existing Dometic. From what I can find online the Samsung weighs 238 lbs and the Dometic weighs 328 lbs. I like the idea of lightening the load on the slide. For now sticking with the Dometic but if it ever dies plan to go residential as a replacement.

Does anyone know how many amps the Dometic draws when on electric? Again based on what I found online the Samsung draws about 15 amps.

The Samsung 197 draws about 4 amps with the ice maker, & 2 amps otherwise -- Thats what my Progressive read out states - It is alot lighter than the 1402 Dometic -- Bill Willard

What model Monaco do you have that in? Is the reefer in the slide? Thanks

My experience with our RF 197 is that it draws about 2 amps at 120vac. The install instructions do suggest a 15 amp circuit but it just doesn't use anywhere near the 15 amps

Thanks Bill
Was your reefer stock or did ytou install it? My problem is the height of the proposed reefer compared to my slide height, wihout a lot of cabinet work. I appreciate your input and i will keep thinking about it and hopefully come up with a solution.
Dan

dimples -- I installed it myself -- There was a drawer, about 6 or 8 inches under the refer that I had to remove -- I left the bottom style intact -- It was 2 inches high, & I built the floor where the refer was, up even with the style -- That gave the the exact size opening for the 197 Samsung -- No modification on the width -- I cut the drawer front down, & made an extension in front of the style/floor, so I could use lag bolts thru where the levelers would be to secure the frig -- Bill Willard

Bill,
I am getting real close to commiting to the RF 197 but have one more question if you don"t mind. When you set yours in the cabinet in your coach did you take the 4 feet off the bottom of the reefer or leave them on? Thanks
Dan

Dan -- If you`re talking about the rollers, I left them on -- I used the brackets where the front levelers go, for anchor screws -- You need to leave the rollers on for air flow-- Bill Willard
