Replaced our day/night shades with mini-blinds

Today we completed the task of replacing our day/night shades with new Levelor mini blinds. They look fantastic. We have a 2004 Diplomat and the dining area slide has a total of 6 long windows. The old shades were pleated and were hard to keep looking nice in a up position. We asked Levelor for bottom clips to attach the blinds to the wall so they are secure and will not swing or move while driving. They included this hardware for no extra charge. We purchased the blinds at Home Depot for about $75 each. They raise up and down easily and installation got easier after the 2nd window.

I need to do the same thing as my shades are breaking the strings. Do you have an item number or style that you can share? Are they metal or vinyl?

Have you noticed an increase in noise or have the clips worked to keep them from rattling while driving? I would also appreciate some pictures. Thanks

I also replaced all of mine with the Levelor .. except got mine at Lowes. They cut them to fit at no charge. There are two colors offered in stock and each color is either light filtering or room darkening. The room darkening has foil inside the folds - and work VERY well to keep the light out. I don't have part #'s, but easy to find at either Lowes or HD. Attached are a couple of photos. I also re-did the valances when I did the shades. I didn't get the hold down clips, but I raise my shades when traveling -- no rattling, no noise, no problems. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Response re: mini-blinds

We have not yet driven the coach to notice any movement or noise as they were just installed yesterday but they are quite stable.
We ordered custom sizes from Home Depot/Levelor metal blinds as we wanted to match the colors to the small kitchen, and bath windows that already have metal mini-blinds. The part number we ordered is:

Skew#0000-176-744, Mark 1C cordless metal aluminum blind, size 1inch.
$ 67.15 each plus tax. They raise up and down without cords which was a must as we travel with a cat. (she actually tore one of our old shades)

Be sure to measure each and every window - as we did not and thought they were all the same size. Four of the windows were different by just fractions of inches. My husband took the end caps off the blind device so they fit and one window we did not even put on the bottom stabilizer as the blind fit so tight.

We had mini blinds in one of our rigs years ago and the noise was not pleasant. I hope you have better luck.

With mini blinds we find that while driving you need them in the closed position to eliminate any noise. If you want them open I think you will want to raise them instead of just opening.

Enjoy

Good for you. I had units that have had mini blinds, standard roll up shades, and these pleated day/night shades. I'm looking at the new Brave to replace our current mh and like the fact they don't have the day/night shades. I find the shades to be a pain.

Who gets to remove and wash them in the bathtub once a year? We had them - never again but at least they were in a trailer so no noise issues.

I've had Micro Mini Blinds on all 6 windows for 18 years, (134k miles).
They have been no problem.
