I had my Weldex back up camera replaced because the camera unit would fill with water during rain storms and the camera display would go blurry and then quit. My Dealer changed the rear camera assembly and now the image is reversed. There are no switches on the camera or the monitor for image standard/mirror imager. Any thoghts. Monaco and Weldex are stumped.

I spoke with a tech rep at RVcams.com and he said that Weldex mirrors the camera image at the monitor. I also spoke with Weldex and they were'nt very helpful. I would give RVcams.com a shout.

Update:
Monaco sent me a second camera. Same result (mirror image) and now when directionals are turned on the image goes black. They sent me a new monitor, same thing. They are sending me a newer generation monitor this weekend. Any other thoughts?

Will the camera only fit in the fiberglass housing one way?? If not, turn it over. If so, turn the entire housing over.

Jack, we had a similar problem with our 06 Knight side cameras. Our right camera would go to gray when it was activated and the left would go black and the picture would roll. When we had some warranty work done in Elkhart, the techs replaced the left camera and could not duplicate the problem with the right so nothing was done there. Within 15 miles of the factory the right started doing the same thing . I called the service guy and he suggested that I call tech support, which is where we are now. I haven't noticed the reversal of the rear image although, I'll have to double check. One thought though, do you have an Alladin system? We do and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the problems.
Anyways, good luck Dan

JAck...
The reason why SacsTC suggested turning it over is because when we were working on our camera problem - he switched it upside down and got the reverse image....

I am at the Wildwood service center for my camera too. It is more likely my monitor, as I have hooked an external 7" monitor to the system and it works fine. On mine, the primary issue has been that the display is very distorted, rolls, and it generally jacked up. Hopefully a simple replacement will do the trick.

I am going to see if I can upgrade to a color monitor tho. The one I have on there now is color, and it is nice. The old Weldex black and white CRT in there is rediculously old technology. Gimme a flat color LCD any day

Thanks for all your feedback. We tried flipping the camera and the image went upside down. Three monitors and two cameras later it has gone back to my dealer for further investigation. The saga continues.

I just bought a "new" 2006 Monarch 36 P-whatever-whatever and the Weldex rearview monitor acts like my brother-in-law . . . it works only when it wants to.

My question: Can I change to a color monitor without changing the camera? Another way to ask is: Is the camera a color camera sending its electrons to a black and white monitor?

Seems as if it is a recurring problem because my new (2 weeks and counting) HR has a monitor/camera problem. On mine, it works fine during the day but the monitor is completely black at night. With my former coaches, I could see good at night. I sent an email to tech support at Monaco and they said you should see things at night depending on the ambient light. I am adding it to my admittedly short list of minor fixes when she goes back to the dealer.

Finally got it straightened out. The Weldex b/w monitor requires color cameras to work properly. They kept installing/sending b/w cameras because Monaco factory service techs did not read notes at bottom of their screen that stated that a b/w monitor needs color cameras. Go figure.

Hi SlickTx -

Welcome to irv2 We're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them. Enjoy the forums and post often, and when you want to be a official member of the forum, let me know.

I think your question was already answered in that you DO need a color camera to send color pictures to the color monitor. Was a good idea, however.

HTH,
Ron
