We have a 05 HR Endevor 40'.. The take up reel for waterhose will need replacing soon. The hose has started to break down with bulges. I have cut back several times, but will eventually
replace the hose. The access panel to the reel
would require removing the whole panel. Has anyone found a way to access the take up reel without removing the entire pannel. I thought of cutting an opening just for the take up reel
in order put a new hose on. Then cover it back with a larger panel still keeping the access slot the same. Any ideas, would appreciate a thought or two.

I had an issue with the water hose leak too. It needed to be replaced also.
What Monaco Service Center did was cut a hole and then put a plastic piece over the cut.
Here is a photo...
That is one idea...
Good Luck

Thanks for the picture. I have the same set up as your picture shows. I didn't think there was
enough room to remove and replace a new hose.
Is this the case. Thanks for the photo

Gypsies...
That is the reason he cut in the "access panel". I can remove those 4 gold screws to get to the water hose connection and unscrew it if I need to replace it again... and then put that little panel back on after the new hose is attached.
It took a bit to cut that...but evidently it is faster than removing that panel and putting it back on.
Does that make since?

I am faced with the same thing shortly - replacing my hose. I think I will probably just remove the entire panel. I removed it when I put the tank sensors on, and it wasn't too bad. I will probably remove it and do a bunch of changes in there while I do the hose.
Here is a picture of the panel off and the access to the reel -

Yup, mine looks/looked just like Kev's. I had mine off to install the See-Level sensors, and it is a good graphic explanation for why the big white plastic cover is there. T'aint pretty without it.
The small square cover over the slot is usually put there during build to allow the hose-end to be routed out thru the slot. I doubt there's enough room to get access to the old hose that way, but I got my fingers crossed for you. Or you might be able to cut a new access-hole to replace the hose, and later be able to cover/close it up and still make it look nice.
IIRC, the hose is a standard 1/2" drinking-water-safe hose. The hose is attached to a flared brass stub right at the reel-end and held in place with a hose-clamp. Once the hose is coaxed loose from the brass fitting, it should be a simple job to push on a new hose-end and tighten with a new hose-clamp. I'd suggest softening the new hose-end in some warm (not HOT) water to help it slide onto the brass fitting.
HTH,
Ron

Has anyone replaced with a fatter hose or a longer hose? From the looks of mine, there is a bit more reel on there. I was thinking of trying 3/4" hose, or going a bit longer that what I have currently. Either one would make me happy

I have the stock 40' ft (or at least that's what's it's supposed to be, never actually measured it. But it does 'eyeball' about right) of 1/2" hose and it pretty-much fills the reel.
I'm sure you could a bit go longer, being sure to watch that the outer coils don't jump off the reel-flanges. Doing the math, additional hose will take up proportionally less space around the outer parts of the reel, too.
Not sure if a fatter hose will work. The reel-fitting might be the stumbling-block if the new hose is a larger diameter. Or do they all have the same inside-diameter?
Be very interested to hear how it turns out.
Ron

Not to hijack the thread, but that darn electric real contraption has thoroughly sliced and shredded my hose. Has anyone else had their hose similarly damaged? I ask because MblCndo is still at the dealer having the wiper recall completed. If it's not normal, now would be a great time to have it looked at.

MBL CNDO -
Does your hose roll up OVER the top or come up from UNDER the reel? Per TDI (the mfgr), they say it should roll over the reel and will allow the hose to find its own level a lot smoother than if it comes up from under/behind, which will add a pull to the hose and possibly cause it to wander off the reel and onto the flanges.

HTH </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Mine rolls up over the top of the reel. I try and go one step further by holding the hose while it rolls up and move it from side to side to enable a more even coiling of the hose on the reel.

Thannk to Mama, Ron, digNbubbs, Mbl Cndo, and anyone else I may have missed. The ideas, thoughts and pictures are excellent. I remain convinced that owners are the best techs going,
As soon as the weather clears (Albuquerque NM) I will get busy. When I complete the hose
replacement, I'll post my results. Again, thanks!!!!

Same thing here. Mine is over the top, but it is hacked up pretty good. Seems like if the hose is twisted or kinked, or otherwise not perfect on the reel, it develops the breaks in the skin. Looks like my hose will turn into a Super Soaker any moment now.
I think I will just try a better quality hose. This one seems to split if you look at it cross-eyed.
