Has anyone used their fresh water tank level guage to signal the RO system to start/ stop?

We used the hose timer as well, for several years. It worked really well. Found out about how long it had to run each day, and then every four or five days, ran it for the extra to catch up as needed. Really a great solution.
Note, you will want to have a pressure controlled switch to keep the pump from trying to run, and the inlet valve from opening, when water pressure is not present.
I used: The pressure switch is a D200S from the RV Water Filter Store. The tank level controller that powers the boost pump and opens the water valve is a B4502 TLC DC900, also from the RV Water Filter Store.

These folks sell the parts needed. K7JV (Jim) has his setup for automatic use, just not sure if he used their parts.

We use the analog voltage signal out of the SeeLevel unit to control ours for "auto-fill". Its a little cluncky, but it works. We run that voltage (varies with the sensed water level in the tank) into a voltage controlled switch that then powers the inlet valve and the pump. There's also a pressure switch in the line to keep anything from running if there isn't pressure on the incoming line. That's really important, whatever system you use to control your fill operation.
The pressure switch is a D200S from the RV Water Filter Store. The tank level controller that powers the pump and opens the water valve is a B4502 TLC DC900, also from the RV Water Filter Store. The voltage controlled switch is a VRDC/12V/MA-5V from Atkinson Electronics, in Utah. Finally, the SeeLevel monitor system is the 709-RP from Garnet Instruments, Ltd. Took a bit of trial and error to get the three pots on the switch to pick up and drop out at the desired tank levels.

Thanks Jim. I figured for $30 it would be worth the upgrade.... Not that it's too time consuming to turn it on over night every once in awhile :-) I will eventually go full auto when I get board.... maybe :-)

Just for information, here's a drawing I made of our system and how it is controlled.
