Our old gasser rode pretty high and could have stood to be lowered a bit, and we considered doing it, but with the new HR, by comparison, it sits pretty low already. Any lower and I'd be afraid of bottoming out on every driveway.

I would NOT do it. It could change the drive shaft angle and cause major problems.

Wilpower has it right. Do NOT raise or lower the ride height. Actually, you should check the ride height to make sure it is at factory spec. The ride height on our MH was out of spec by about an inch and after adjustment the coach handled and rode better. Changing the ride height puts stress on the U Joints and leads to premature failure.

How do I check the ride height?

Where do I find out the correct height for my coach?

There is a section in your owners manual that provides a general guideline on checking ride height. You measure the distance between the 2 steel plates that the airbags attach to. Since the airbags are semi-circular in the middle of the airbag that is a challenge. If you have a large inside caliper then you are good to go. I did not so I used 2 adjustable combination squares. I removed one of the blades and inserted the body on the other body and blade which allowed me to measure plate to plate. I can send you a picture on how I attached them if I have confused you. Kinda hard to imagine. The actual adjustment is pretty well described in the owners manual.

Don't believe the manuals ride height. It is probably wrong. Call MMC tech support and they can tell you the proper ride height.

If your coach is under warranty then the dealer can check your ride height and make necessary adjustments. I live about 120 miles from the dealer and decided it was something I could do.

Since we have the same year and model, HERE is a link to both the instructions and the specs as sent to me earlier this year from Monaco. We have the double-donut bags in the front, but the procedure is the same. There are two adjustment points in the rear, but only one for the front axle.

Since I'm not a mechanic, I didn't feel comfortable being under the coach while "messing with" the ride height adjustment. I had a local truck alignment shop in town do mine, rather than the dealer. I figured the dealer wouldn't want to do it under warranty - especially if no adjutment were needed. (I didn't ask, so could have been wrong about that.) Anyway, the local shop charged much less than the dealer would have to check/adjust it, if they were going to charge. Mine was off about a half inch in the front. Adjusting it to specs did make some positive difference in ride comfort.

In the interest of evolving/merging a very useful subject, please note that there is a similar topic "ride height measurment (sic) on 4bag chassis" over on the Roadmaster Chassis Forum.
