We were camping this weekend at Cumberland Mountain State Park near Crossville,TN in site 67. We were jolted out of our pleasant sleep by a large tree that gave it up and decided to become termite food. The tree looks OK and there was no wind, but a closer look at the underground stump shows internal rot. All things considered it could have been much worse. The pop-up next door belongs to our son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Picasa Web Albums - Bob Nodine - Tree falls on...#

Still here in site 67 waiting for the maintenance crew to come and remove the tree. Just hope I will be able to get the slide in. To much tree in the way to see how bad it is. I can see that one corner is bent inward and will have to be straighten out before closing the slide. Not sure if I will have to remove the topper or can leave it on. Looks like Buddy Gregg body shop is going to get some more business. We had the police and state park officials over here at 4:00AM to make sure a report is filed. I sure hope my insurance covers this and does not claim an act of God. The state is self insured so this could get interesting.

Bob

Glad everyone is OK, it should be covered under the comprehensive portion of your policy minus any deductible.

y'all planning on going to church today? Glad no one was hurt. If it can be fixed with a check, it is not worth worrying about.

Thank god it didn't hit the pop up. As for the Diplomat, this is precisely why we have insurance, although I would enjoy seeing the look on your agent's face when he sees the pictures.

Really glad no one was hurt.

I just added 5 more photos to the mix. After the tree was removed and I took the topper off I found a large hole in the top of the slide.

Thanks to Skipper and his wife for stopping by and loaning me his ladder. I have a ladder but we needed two to get the topper awning off. Skipper and his wife are campground hosts here at Cumberland Mountain State Park. Just yesterday we were talking about the damage he and I have had in the past and I was telling him that Buddy Gregg did a good job in the body shop.

Could have been a lot worse. Things can be fixed or replaced. Lives are much more fragile. Now I know why I like camping in the desert.

That is really scary seeing what my MH would look like with the tree on it. I sure hope your insurance takes care of all of this.

Dang - that was too close for comfort Bob !

I am pleased that you are all OK. Material damage can always be fixed however inconvenient this may be.

All the best!

The damage was not to bad. We have already met the Progressive Agent at Buddy Gregg's on Friday morning and got an estimate, althrough I don't yet know how much. My deductible will be zero and the agent will send a check in my name to Buddy Gregg. Once we are satisfied with the work we sign the check. We will get a new topper and air conditioner out of it. The top of the slide out will be replaced and painting will be done. We are still able to use the motorhome so it could have been much worse. I purchased a new cover for the AC to keep the water out and the agent said if I show him the receipt he will reimburse me.

Bob
