Plan to run the fridge on propane while traveling this weekend to PA. Do I need to switch my inverter on while traveling if I'm not running the generator in order to provide power to the fridge?

No.
The fridge only needs 12 volts to operate on propane.

Route 66: So then it's drawing its 12V from the engine batteries or the coach batteries?

Just wondering why you do not want to turn On the Inverter?

I don't know how the HR is wired, but I would think it gets 12V from the coach (house) batteries like my Dutch Star and most rigs.
I'm sure some HR owners will reply with the answer.

I think all you have to do is turn it On with the Inverter Off and the panel on the door will tell you if it is working.

The ice maker needs 120V to run, and I think there's a plug in behind the fridge fed by the inverter. So, when going down the road, the inverter has to be on to run the ice maker.
The fridge also needs 120V to run when set to AC power, and I think there's another plug behind the fridge that feeds AC power to it, but that plug is not fed by the inverter, only by shore power, and I think also by the generator. So you can't run the fridge off the inverter, only the ice maker.

My 99 windsor frig runs off inverter which can drain the batteries down pretty fast. May be model specific as to how they wired

All you need is the refer set to auto, when you unplug from the power post it will lite the gas automatically. Now if you have not used gas in a while it may beep and have a warning light come on as it takes a couple to 4-5 times of trying to lite before gas gets to the burner. Now when I want to use mine on gas I just set it to on, then to gas and run it through the cycles of alerts till it stays lit and then switch to auto before the trip and forget it, pugging in and the on the road off and on. You must have the house power 12 volt on.

You can run it on gas without the inverter or on gas with the inverter for the ice maker but be sure to take the refig off of auto and on gas, on some of the Monaco coaches but not all the plug for the ice maker & refig comes off of the inverter.

I attempted to run my fridge (without propane) while on the generator. It kept kicking off and activating the alarm after about 10 seconds. Should I have had the inverter on or is something wrong? It works fine when on shore power. ??? Joe

Did the unit give you any fault codes? Have you checked the voltage while operating on the GenSet?
