Safety Jack stands
Wondering what size jack stands people use for safety on a MH like a 40ft Monaco Diplomat while jacked up? I'm thinking my MH is around 30K pounds and using the onboard jacks to raise and then place the jack stands under it for safety.
Thanks

Here's another thought. I bought an 8' 2x8 and cut it so that I had three boards in a 1:2:3 ratio as to length. Then I "laminated" them to form a stepped ramp. I made one for each of the rear wheels. When I need to go under the coach, I put them in front of all four tires and drive up onto them. We also have a tag, so I made two more that were just a sandwich of three 2x8 boards about a foot long. I end by raising the tag, putting the blocks under the tag tires, and then lowering it again.
That gives me about 5" of lift. Then, I dump all of the air before ever going under the rig. I eat too much and enjoy food, but even so, with my creeper I can get under everything back there, if needed. There is not a lot of clearance, but there is no physical way for the coach to drop any more, unless something happens to puncture tires while you are under it.

Good question--IIRC, seems like mine our 12-ton stands--plenty of reserve for rear axles [max weight of 20k lbs]. No issue for front axle but if you lift just one side of rear axle, you are probably lifting slightly more than half the max axle weight--12 ton jack stands are not that much more [cost-wise] than 6-ton, and give you plenty of reserve......

I use the Harbor Freight 12-ton jack stands, which are actually 6-tons each.

So, if you use the air ride system to raise the coach all the way up, where do you place the jack stands to support the coach?
The main frame rails are up inside the storage compartments, so they are not useable.

I purchased the following jack stands from Summit Racing. They are 22 tons per jack stand.
https://www.summitracing.com/search?...rd=%09SXT-1522
I run my MH up on ramps as previously described, clock the wheels, and the put the jack stands in place.

I wanted the best I could purchase but didn't want to spend the money. So I copied the ones I saw in the Heavy Truck shop i purchase parts at. Cost me less than $100 bucks to build. 4" square tubing 1/2" wall, 1" stainless pin. Im sure they will carry 22 tons each, and have carried my coach with no Problem

If you are asking if I carry them with me in the coach, no I don't. I have used them under the front axle while I take the front tires off and work on my disc brake slide pins and to grease the king pins. Had an update to install on my Meritor caliper slide pins. Also jacked up the back and used as a safety under the retracted hydraulic jacks while doing maintenance.
I have to do the Meritor update on my drive axle and will use them both on 1 side at a time. Will use one under the driver, and one under the tag. Don't want to use both under the drive because I would leave the tag suspended. Stands are only 15" tall compressed. I use a Sunex 6722 22 Ton truck axle jack to lift my coach, its air operated. Thats where I spent the money

Doodad, What's the Meritor update? We have a 2005 Beaver Patriot w/tag, 525hp CAT. Disc on steer and drive, drums on tag, I believe. If there is an update/upgrade to my brakes, I want to hear about it.
Thanks!

While doing a youtube search for the Meritor ADB 1560 model disc brakes is where I heard about it. Its a Rockwell return assist spring that is installed on the slide pin so as to assist the caliper to return to a neutral position to reduce the premature wear of the disc pads. The slide pins will get dirt and grime on the and will not allow the caliper to return to neutral at times, the spring will help that. The spring kit part number is KIT 15018 best price for them is on eBay here is the link to that auction

The youtube video link if you wish to view, quite long but very good is this
