Took my model 5800 out to clean and check system after 4 years of use. I would like to replace the rubber impeller inside. The parts manual does not show the inside of the pump. Does anyone know if the part #70475 "impeller with gaskets" is the rubber impeller and not the metal one?

It seems as though they installed the pump towards the back of the compartment in order to use up the 21" inlet hose rather than cutting it to fit. As a result it created a trap where the flex-able inlet hose hangs down in the lower section of the compartment. I i can never get everything out of the inlet hose. Thinking about changing the "inlet hose", part #18, from the corrugated style hose to a smooth bore hose so nothing remains trapped in hose and moving the pump closer to the front of the compartment. Has anyone done this?

Any other tricks for improving this system anyone has come up with?

Thanks, john

John, That impeller is rubber with a brass center. I have turned the system around on 08 Cayman with good results. By doing this change you can access the manual anti jam screw that is blocked and through away that black smelly hose and replace it with high quality drain hose.

This picture should show you something of the results from turning the system around. The picture is a Endeavor.

Mike,
Thanks for the input. I like what you did and turning it around sure makes sense. Also, thanks for the pic, really helps to understand.
