I replaced my original SaniCon macerator pump today. The original pump worked like a trojan, but the occasional baby diaper wipe ruined the pump and blades.
It is a great mystery as to how diaper wipes got into the toilet, particularly after my repeated requests to KEEP DIAPER WIPES OUT OF THE TOILET!!!
I wanted anyone who is considering replacing or adding a SaniCon Macerator - this is a piece of cake! 30 minute job.
Now, as you know, Lippert went out of business and Stromberg Carlson bought the step technology. Monaco used Lippert Coach Steps on many coaches. Several parts went bad with mine, all due to mal/misuse and my dainty 250 lbs, so I decided to purchase the entire step assembly new.
The step assembly probably weighs around 40 lbs and feels like 200. Technically, this is an easy replacement. There are 4 bolts which hold the assembly in place, and a couple of wires to disconnect and two to cut and re-splice. Easy. Unless you are trying it as a one-man job.
This job is best done with 2 hydraulic jacks, two short 2x4's, an air wrench and a lot of Yankee ingenuity.
I write all of this just to say, if I can do this, you can do this.
