I've removed the Norcold from my MH and am getting ready to remove the roof vent. I have a piece of sheet metal painted white that will cover the hole, my question is what do I use to seal it? I've never done this before so I'm clueless. I intend to put styrofoam sheets in the hole from the inside and seal it up with a luan panel.

Why don`t you leave the roof vent on if it`s in good shape, & don`t leak ? Bill Willard

The problem is that it shows evidence of water coming in thru the vent over the years and I want to seal it off so I don't have water, and dust coming in thru the now unused/unneeded vents. Also the screen in the vent is torn with a large hole in it. I'm going to do it I just want to know what are the best sealants to use.

One last attempt, how about a cover on the vent?

Without knowing the size of the hole after you remove the vent. I would suggest cutting a piece of aluminium and seal the edges with Eternabond Tape. Camping World sells something like Eternabond made by Dicor. It comes in rolls or patches. If it's like Eternabond you will only have to seal it once . It last a long time.

Ron,

Go with the Dicor products sold at Camping World and RV dealers.

Thanks for all the great advice. I ended up not removing the whole vent, just the plastic cover. The box for the solar panels is attached to it and it is only about 2" high. I fabricated a piece of sheet metal and sealed it with Eternabond. No one in the area was selling Dicor and I didn't want to drive 100 mi to get it. I also couldn't wait for it due to the imminent arrival of the refer. The hole is now nicely sealed and no vermin will be able to get in and leave deposits on my new Samsung Refer!!!

Ron
