We own a 1992 Monaco Signature which originally had a Trekmate 747D security system on it. I am going to be updating it since every time I plug it in the alarm goes off. I have tried resetting it as per the instructions to no avail. the original system was wireless from all of the doors and compartments along with glass breakage detectors and the smoke detector. This also had a paging system which would page you if the coach system was activated. Before going to all of the work researching what is out there at the present time I figured I would ask to see if anyone has already done an update on there's and what they would recommend. I have the wiring connection layout for the original unit and I have been an electronics tech for some 40 years so this is not too much of a challenge for me. If I had a schematic of the original unit I would try and fix it but I have had no luck acquiring one. So here I am any ideas???

My thought is.... don't bother. I've learned that the RV community is one of the best group of people on the planet. When my rig is at a campground, I'm quite comfortable leaving it. If you are storing your rig where it's not as safe as you would like, then perhaps that is reason enough to want to modernize your monitoring system.

You are correct in saying that the RV community is a great and safe place to be but we like to travel the road less traveled so to speak. We have found ourselves many times miles from the nearest blacktopped hwy and no one in sight. Also the area we live in has a shortage of nearby safe places to park. We can park at our daughter but that is about 35 miles away and a 45 minute drive. Diane just looked into a company that has indoor parking but the cost is out of our range, $45,000.00 entry fee.

Craig,
The security system in our 1994 Signature appears to be the same as yours. We had occasion to remove the fuse for our unit and when re-fused, off it went..........turned it off with key fob remote.
If you decide to replace your system please contact me.

Craig,
Do you know where your alarm system "brain box" is located and if so would you please pass it along. I have been looking for ours without luck. Hoping you can help.
Thanks

The security controller on ours is located under the passenger side of the dash on the drop down fuse panel. It has three quarter turn knobs on the panel then it drops down. The attached pictures show it removed but were I have taped a fuse layout is were the system was.
The main reason I am looking into repairing it or replacing it myself is because I would like to be able to use the FM transmitters that are on each basement door instead of running a bunch of wires.

Thanks. I just located ours today. It was hidden behind a removable panel on the left side of the drivers seat.
If you do replace your unit please call me as I can possibly use some of the parts.
Respectfully Gary
