After reading this thread, I plan to use Irontite products to flush and seal my coolant system prior replacing the thermostat.

Just my personal opinion, but I would only use a product to stop leaks in an emergency and then repair/replace the radiator ASAP.

We just bought a "new to us" 454 powered Flair. After getting it home and starting my process for making it reliable to travel anywhere at anytime I noticed a seepage at the radiator. There was also plastic container of anti-freeze and some stop leak in one of the storage compartments which indicated to me that it had been leaking for some time and attempts had been made to "patch it up". My solution was to remove the radiator and take it to a shop I've used for many years. They couldn't find a new one but re-cored the old one. I've done this before with excellent results so I'm hoping this one will be the same. It was such a pain getting to the radiator that I just replaced everything behind it with new parts as well as converting the AC to R 134a in hopes of never having to do that again.

I can understand the high cost of having this done because of the difficulty and time required, but IMHO, for the peace of mind it brings it is worth it.

Best of luck.

Agreed, and not having to worry while driving makes all that effort so much more worth it! These coaches don't just pull over and into a corner garage easily. Good thinking.
