We are new to the Forum.
We have a 1999 Monaco Dynasty 36 foot diesel pusher and are thinking about replacing front shock absorbers with Bilstein shocks. Anyone have any experience with these? Good Value?

Jallison,

Welcome to the Monaco iRV2 Forum. Bilstein makes a good shock for a motorhome. Certainly better than the Monroe shocks Monaco is installing at the factory.

However for just a few dollars more you could have Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Damper) shocks. Everyone who's installed them raves about them. Read more about them on Koni's RV web site; or see this thread for some interresting comments; or find other comments here.

Are folks replacing their shocks (1)for better performance, (2)their current shocks have worn out, or (3)the original shocks are unacceptable???

If it is because of wearing out, how many miles are you getting before needing to replace them.

Thanks!

Hi Les,
We had an '04' Winnebago Brave bought "new". The original shocks were unacceptable as they allowed the coach to porpose when hitting potholes or uneven road. They were light duty Monroe shocks. We replaced them with Bilstiens all of the around and were very pleased with the change. I've also heard many good things about Koni shocks.
If you go to the "Workhorse Chassis" forum you will read many posts on this subject.
Good luck,
AKBrick
