Hello,

I have been at a camp site for 2 months now and we are getting ready to pull up the levelors and travel. Should I possibly spray some silicone spray on the shafts before pulling them up? There may be some dust or dirt that I feel should be cleaned off before pulling up the jacks. Any opinions?

Taken directly from the Powergear Operation Guide pg 12.

4. Remove dirt and road debris as needed.
5. If Jacks are down for extended periods, it is recommended to spray exposed chrome rods with a silicone lubricant every seven days for protection. If your coach is located in a salty environment, (within 60 miles of coastal areas) is is recommended to spray the rods every 2 to 3 days

Thanks for the information from the "Powergear Operation Guide", I did not get the guide when I purchased my motor home. I better get it done soon.

Several months ago, another member of this forum recommended a product called Jigaloo for periodically spraying on the jack stand shafts. It can also be used on your step linkage, gray/black tank valves, etc to name a few. We purchase ours at Wally World and as they say, " it's the best thing I've seen since sliced bread" . Here is a link to the products website. Jig-A-Loo - an invisible silicone-based lubricant and water-repellent ! and the previous discussion by another member. http://www.irv2.com/forums/search.php?searchid=570105

On the other hand, we have owned our Endeavor for four years, all the time fulltiming. Have never done anything to the jacks and they work as good as the day we drove it off the dealers lot. Have parked it a number of times for two to three months while we volunteered at parks, etc. Maybe we are on borrowed time, or maybe the warnings about impending doom are over blown. As always your experience may vary, but I look at Life as too short to worry about every little thing. Besides, if it breaks, I'll get to meet some new friends while I get it fixed.
