Slide awning?

I have a 2000 Windsor that needs a new slide awning (single slide) original was destroyed in a storm and was a Carefree omega. Anyone ever replaced their slide awning? Do you really need one? I've been using it for a while without one. Would like to replace with Carefree if available.

Stone Voss makes a very good replacement topper.

Did you check with your insurance company? They will cover that.

I like the slide cover because it really helps in the hot weather.

RV Awnings & Slide Toppers From Stone Vos

Don't buy the Carefree cover , Chris at Stonevoss can match the cover
exactly with much better materials .
The thing that ages out first is usually the thread and Chris uses the best.
He also makes the cover just a tad wider , as wide as your roller will allow
to give more coverage .
Chris is also a fellow Monaco RVer and if you are thinking about DIY
he can / will help guide you .

I guess you can live with out the cover , the first slides didn't have them
but that didn't last long .
I think water intrusion will become a big problem eventually plus they
provide shade over the thin slide roof .

The wife and me replaced all our covers except the big awning and really
it was not that hard to do .

Another vote for Stone Vos here.

Not difficult to do but kind of awkward, better with two people to remove and reinstall.

My grandson and I replaced 4 slide out covers over the Christmas-New Year holidays.
I measured our slide outs and called Ingrid at Stone Vos with the measurements. It takes a couple of weeks for her to custom make the covers. Like someone else said, the threads were deteriorated on our covers and they would flap loudly in the wind. The new covers are very quiet and look great. Now I wish I had the same great material on my awnings!

Been said already, but go with Chris and Ingrid at Stone Vos. Replaced all 4 of mine last year by myself. Doable by myself, but would have been much easier if I wasn't so stubborn and would have waited for help.
Chris & Ingrid build a first class product and are wonderful people to work with.
