I had the large slide of our 2003 Holiday Rambler Vacationer extended yesterday. The big slide is located in the kitchen. I intended to remove the factory installed jack knife sofa. We had a cold front move through and the wind caused the slide topper tear completely. The stitching apparently was rotted causing it to separate into 2 pieces.

Needless to say, I didn't get the sofa removed because I had to tie down the 2 flapping sections.

Has anyone replaced this slide topper? Where did you get your replacement? Are there any brands to avoid?

Call Chris at Stone Vos. Great guy and he will go out of his way to help you. He owns a Monaco and has tremendous knowledge of many things RV related.

I helped a friend install Stone Vos covers on his Monaco. When I needed ones for my CC I also went with Stone Vos. They gave me incorrect measuring instructions and had to return them to be restitched to the correct size. I installed all 4 of them myself, would have been nice to have a 2nd person though.

I want to thank all of you who replied to my post about this slide topper. I have to agree with your recommendation about Chris and Ingrid. I have already dealt w/Chris to buy Guardian plates for my money pit.

I found him very very helpful and I do trust him. So, I'll be giving them call.

George, I highly recommend the acrylic fabric from Stone Vos! It is top quality and the customer service can't be beat!

Stone Vos is good advice. As an alternative, I'm wintering just outside of Marco Island in SW Fla and decided to replace a topper over my full wall slide. I took a sample of the fabric to a marine awning shop in Marco and they made me a new acrylic topper to my specs and it was quite inexpensive. I led being able to meet the people, see the actual fabrics, observe their shop and have them talk me through the install. Just another thought.

I did go with the acrylic topper. It seems I have a topper setup by the factory that allows me to either use it as a topper or a topper and window shade. I have decided to use the Carefree Omega I as only a topper and have ordered the replacement cut to that size.

I have spoken with Ingrid and Tabitha at Stone Vos. They have been great to deal with and oh so helpful. My topper should ship soon. I am holding my breath until we get it installed.

This is not my first encounter and dealings with Chris and Ingrid and Tabitha. My contacts with them have been nothing but positive. I would continue to be a repeat customer and recommend them to any owner needing one of their products.

For those that a somewhat handy and aren't afraid of a little sewing machine, making covers is quite easy.

Go to a fabric store and choose whatever Sunbrella fabric you like.

All seams are simple to do since they are all straight runs. Don't worry if your seam wanders a bit since the topper isn't something that people inspect from a 12' ladder.

Two people make the job a lot easier; one to hold the other end is the value.

I do them every 4-5 years, costs about $50 for all 4 toppers. My bride chooses the fabic, of course

Well, life and age has caught up with me. I now have to hire the ladder stuff done it's better than a broken hip at 74.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and offer a suggestion to remedy my problem. I do appreciate it.

I have ordered a replacement topper from Stone Voss and will have a mobile repairman here install the thing.

Since most of the guy's cost will be the trip charge, consider replacing more than just one of the toppers/window shades. Anything over 5 years old that has been in the sun might need replacing.

Just replaced all 4 slide toppers with Stone Vos. The fabric was an exact match to my factory fabric (which matches my existing patio awning) and with a 10 year warranty and a lifetime warranty on the thread. It took about 6 hours to replace them all. Not difficult but a platform or 10' ladder is a must and it makes it a whole lot easier if you have 2 or more people.
