I stored my RV with the slides in after our trip. I went out to the RV a couple of days later and the kitchen slide was out a few inches. I was able to bring it back in... but is this a problem? Is there a fix?

Thanks,

Ron

Your kitchen slide is most likely hydraulic and runs off the LCI pump system....The LCI pumps on 2009 units have a defective seal and when it leaks, the motor burns or you lose pressure...hence the slide creep..you might also have a hydraulic cylinder under the slide that has slight pressure leak..

Check slide cylinders to see if a leak at the fittings or at the piston itself..If not, go to LCI motor behind the AC condensor...see if you see a leak spot there or at the fittings there. The OEM motor with that bad seal might be the culprit--remove bell housing covering nut, if burnt fluid there, that's the smoking gun... Call LCI support....they know about this....they will send you new unit but you are on the hook for labor....do a search on the LCI hydraulic motor....plenty of stuff to read on it including a nice fix to replace the seal yourself....

I hope you find where it is losing pressure...

Stuart,

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like this is something that I should get fixed under my warranty. I wasn't sure whether this is something that is normal.

I'll add it to my "punch list".

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron

You stated punch list warranty....all 2009 units warranties were null and void once Navistar purchased the assets of Monaco...LCI will stand behind the unit up to 2 years after the date the coach was assembled..anything after that is a goodwill gesture. If you purchased this from a dealer with a full warranty of some kind, you are well ahead of the game. This is a Caymen with the RR4R chassis. Have the trailing arms been replaced? This is a known defect which again due to the MCC buyout was also escaped. Please do a search on trailing arms and there are options open to you. Source Engineering makes stronger trailing arms. I don't want to rain on your parade...but if you have the originals on there--they will fail ...and if this happens while driving...could be catastrophic....

You state you are in Cary NC....I will soon be joining you in that state....if all goes my way...

Stuart,

I appreciate your concern, but I do have a valid warranty with the new Monaco. My RV was part of the inventory sold to Navistar and sold to me. I have already been provided repairs, replacements and services from them over the last 6 months... And have been very pleased.

Navistar replaced my trailing arms with their new solution (very impressive) prior to the sale to me.

I know that many were burned by the old Monaco, but I have been very pleased with the new Monaco's service and support.

Ron

Ron, check your fluid reservoir. A low reading will allow the slide to creep out. The hydraulic cylinder pushes the slide out and holds it in. My coach is in the shop right now for the same problem. But, I know my cylinder was leaking because I could see it. Waiting for warranty approval. ...Good luck...Dennis
