Purchased our first rv in Texas and now back in Canada to do renovations before taking a trip.Have a 2001 diplomat and can't get slider to extend . I am a new rv owner and need your help. I have followed guidelines in manual- drivers seat moved out the way. RV batteries "ON". Couldn't find any bar mechanisms above slideout that are to be removed?? Ignition off. Storage bay doors closed.Found slideout switch in cupboard above passenger seat. Pushed in OUT switch for about a minute with nothing happening. Could hear what I think was the motor running. Any suggestions??
Also: manual talks about using a lever to get the slideout back in but nothing about using lever in opposite direction to extend it. What do you think???
regards Alan from Whitby, Ontario

Thank you all for providing suggestions about keeping diesel fuel being tracked into RV..

Not sure of your coach. When I had problems with the front slide on my Scepter it was because the shear bolts had broken. If you have the power gear mechanical drive, you might check on the top of the bays under the slide to see it the drive shaft is turning but the slide gears aren't moving, it might be the shear bolts.

thanks for feedback. I have added another idea...regards Alan
I just went out to RV....Had my wife hold in OUT button and I looked at motor assembly for slideout. It was running but nothing moving. Does anyone know where the shearspins could be??? Didn't see anything obvious..
regards Alan

I had a similar problem with my generator slide a few days ago... it was a fuse.

Not sure where your pump is located, but I think probably in front of the steps... but look for the pump (where the noise is coming from). On the pump should be a bundle of wires and some of them will have weatherproof fuse holders. Check the fuses and see if one is blown.

The shear pin is on the drive shaft near the motor or near the gear cogs.

Hi Outage. I just purchased my Winnebago in the US as well and brought it into Canada 10 days ago. Have you started your paperwork with RIV yet? I got the my clearance letter from Winnebago within 10 min of my request but still waiting on the one from Ford. There was a safety recall on my chassis so of course that had to be looked after first. Got that done and now waiting for the letter from Ford. It is too cold here for me to determine what works and what doesn't work so I expect I will have a few surprises too. I believe my slides are hydraulic. Good luck on resolving your slide issue.

Outage, I have a 2001 Diplomat and I just went out and checked my drive for the front slide. My 12 volt motor and gearbox hang from the roof of the first compartment behind the drivers front wheel. On the back side of the drive motor where the wires go into the motor is a small lever and this lever releases the motor brake. Thas lever should be down and you have a what looks like a 1/4" bolt connecting the round drives coming from the gearbox to the square drives going to the rack and pinion drives that move the slide in and out if you are talking about the front slide. You have 1 of these bolts on each side of the slide motor assembly. If you have someone operate the slide motor and it runs but you don't see anything turning you probably have a broken gear in your drive motor assembly. Good luck, George R. 2001 40' Diplomat PBD
