I'm currently at Beaudry RV in Chandler, AZ waiting on a gear assembly for my front roadside slide. This slide supports a couch, dinette and refrigerator. So far the slide has failed to operate three times, the collar that attaches the square tube to the round shaft coming out of the motor has broken at the weld twice and the rear gear had three broken teeth. Beaudry replaced the rear gear assembly and discovered while attempting to align the slide that the front gear was also missing two or three teeth.

Has anyone else had problems with their front roadside slide?

I have the same problem on my big slide on my HR Pres. Suite SKQ 30' fifth wheel. Since the rear shaft and sprocket are OK, I can put my weight on it and push it in carefully keeping the same rate of movement from front to rear. I can also assist in pulling it out. Plan to get it fixed in AZ.

I have a 2007 Scepter quad slide. I had numberous problems with the front slide that, in my coach, has the 'frig, sofa and dinette. Slide first failed the day I brought it home from the dealer. Over a year, it sheared the gear shaft and numerous shear pins. Monaco had the motor changed at a local shop under warranty when it wouldn't retract. Then it sheared the gear axle and I needed road service to get the slide in. Went to the Monaco factory and they replaced the gear under warranty (all this before bankrupcy), and realigned the slide. It started shearing pins shortly after that. Went through three or four pins and finally took the coach back to the selling dealer, DeMartini. They worked on it three different times until they finally said they would keep it until they could find the problem and repair. It was there for a week or two. They ended up replacing the motor again as well as numerous other parts. That was a year ago, and we haven't had a problem since. We've gotten to the point where we no longer hold our breath when we put the slide in or out.
