We have a 2002 dip 40 ft. The front slideout awning is sagging and I don't think it will reel back in, although I haven't tried. Is there any adjustment that will pull out the sag? I called carefree and they said it is probably a broken spring. Has anyone change out a spring. Any input would be appreciated. Thks, Chuck & Cissy

Chuck, changing out the spring or even the slide awning is not difficult if you have the Omega One or Two. If your slide awning has arms that can be pulled down so the awning is also a window awning, then it is most likely the Omega. Finding the spring can be a problem however PPL in Houston has had them. Wipe high temp grease on the spring before you install it and that will help it keep from rusting. The rust can cause premature failure of the spring. I did a write up on how to replace the awning and spring. Contact me rbdtanasi at yahoo and I will be glad to send it to you. It is a PDF but the file is too large to upload here.

Chuck, I had the same problem on my 2001 Windsor slide awnings. The aluminum cover would sag and get caught between the slide and the coach as I tried to slide it in. I have the awnings with the inverted J arms that are supposed to be slide and window combo and are obsolete.
While probably not the correct way to fix them, all I did was extend the awning (with the slide in), propped the left side open,on the right side I took the pivot bolt at the bottom of the J bracket loose, gave it 3 or 4 turns more tension and re-attached the J bracket.
Like I said, this is not the right way to fix the problem, but I didn't want to invest any money into an obsolete product, it was quick (30 minutes for both), and they work great now.

Hope this helps,

Lance
